I'd rather not say publicly. I do have full coverage on both vehicles (my wifes and mine); and I know the collision is only for damage my car if I hit someone (everything else is covered but your car if you have liability, etc.).962porsche wrote:paultg . what insurance co. do you have ? not all insurance co's are the same but every one i know will not drop you if you only have liability . this is why i say don't shop for price when you buy insurance .you can't put in a claim on your car its not insured for that . it only covers you for the other persons car you hit and gets damaged . if your not happy with your carrier then fire them and get an other . always look at buying insurance as business .
I have a call into the company about the letter, I'll ask if dropping collision changes anything and let you know.

i did not know you have your wife and you on the same policy ? we have a hole new ball game now ! you might have to drop full coverage on all the cars if there is more than one driver ? depending on your vehicle's value that might not be the best move . if you don't know all the in's an outs with insurance co's it may be best to go with an agent . its some times better to do this than deal with a big CO. your self . line C in your policy is very shady . most CO'S have a line somthing like that . i dont know you and things at this time are still vague . so its hard for me to advise you on just what you should do . but i'm thinking the CO. you have will not trust you and could drop you . things like your wires name in the reg. of the car you put on the track all have a bearing on what you might have to do to get the coverage you need . when i was marryed i had to have my track car in my name only and under a hole other insurance CO.

I spoke with them again today; my policy is up for renewal this year; no issues there, and I do have the latest version of the policy, the letter does read differently; the policy is what governs.
I have until sometime in December now to find a new company. If anyone can recommend an agent in the S. New Hampshire area let me know.

paul i think thats a very wise move . agents are some times the best way to go . it may cost alittle more to have one but in the long run its some times better . they are the middle man ! they know the in's and outs and should go to bat for you . and spend there time looking for the best coverage for your needs . its kind of like having a lawyer in court . you might make out ok on your own . but they do know the ins an outs . try never to take it personal dont get mad . when you think an insurance CO. is trying to F.U. good ! treat it like a buseness ! your signing a contract so always be aware of what your signing . if you dont under stand something just ask . i do it all the time when it comes to contracts .

I had a problem getting my car insured for just liabilty here in MA. I have 3 cars and 2 bikes all insured with one company. I also had my homeowners policy with the same agent. Two years ago the homeowners company decided to drop anyone within a mile of the coast and I was forced to find a new provider. I chose a local agent and got a new homeowners policy. After signing on with him he asked for our car policy business, at the time those were not due for renewal for 6 months, I told him I would contact he when they came due for a quote. About 3 months later I bought a trailer for the track car and had questions about it and used him to help track down the answers. When the the car policies came due I went to him for a quote and in the course of our discussion he asked if the Mazda on the policy was the track car and like a fool I told him it was. He informed me that it would not be eligible for coverage. I explained that I wanted only liabilty as I needed to drive it on the street occasionally and here in MA were are required to have insurance to get a license plate. This car was insured and registered at the time, yet he claimed that simply because it was used in any sort of "performance" event the insurance company would not write a policy. Needless to say I did not go with his company. In the future I will also be very cautious about what I discuss with any people I do business with. When I told him about what I did with the Mazda I thought we were just having an innocent conversation about hobbies, never realizing it would come back to bite me. On a funny note I do get a low mileage credit on the policy I have on the car because I drive it less than 5000 miles per year. Insurance companies do suck, but you gatta have 'em. Maybe I should take my signature off this post?? Someone may be watching.

We go to the local town or city hall, and after initial registration, we can do it by mail for renewals. The city/town sends you a renewal notice with all the necessary forms, which you fill out and send back with a check. They then send you your license plate "stickers". The pisser here in NH is that you must then have your safety and emmisions inspection within 10 days of the reg or rereg date. I doubt an agent can, or would, do that for youbreakaway500 wrote:You guys don't have to go to the registry for plates and such?
I have never heard of an insurance agent who would register your vehicle, perhaps because we have no equirements to obtain insurance in order to register our cars. Exception to that is someone who has CAUSED an accident when not insured. They would then be required to provide proof of insurance to retain their driver's license.

an independent agent is whats needed if your looking for special tipe of insurance .they will do the calling to look for coverage and pricing . i have 5 of my cars on the road at this time . insured with 3 deferent CO'S . there are only 2 insurance co. that will underight my 1973 vw bug . and 5 that will offer the coverage i'm looking for with the ferrari i have . what im saying about an agent going to bat for you . is not someone to get your car reg. its someone to work for you to get the coverage your looking for at the best price . i did live in NH for two years but my cars were reg. and insured in CT .at that time back in 1990 and 91 it was better for me to keep my cars reg. and ins. in ct. . it's cost was much higher but the coverage was alot better that way . so i dont know the laws in other states . insurance co. look at all states deferent . weather your a home owner or not . have a wife , kids that drive , name on reg. , and so on . all have a bearing on what you can get coverage on and how its covered . insurance CO'S like allstate , american , progressive . suck ! they will drop you if they even think your a risk to them . if there paying out on a claim and your car is older than 2 years . and has more than 5000 miles a year on your car . then gess what ! you get used parts or after market parts .for your cars repair . insurance CO'S like to use things like LKQ in sted if saying used . why becouse in most cases you the insured has no clue what it stands for. and don't ask ! so a repair shop puts a used panel or part on your car . and you dont know so you can't bitch ! a customer of mine this past summer gave me her speed miata to repair . when it came to the hood replacement the insurance co told me they were only paying for an aftermarket hood . thats what was in her policy . so if you know about miata's . then you know the mx-5's have an aluminum hood . and all the after markets are all steel . she hit the roof when she found this out! but she signed the policy not knowing what LKQ stood for . so we did get a used insted. but not a match to what was on the car . now she love's her car she even waxes the under side of the hood . i dont think its right but she signed the contract saying its ok to do that . now the agent she had only offer progressive . this is not an independent agent .

i will retract my use if all insurance co's names . i do not want to affend peaple with names . but some insurance cos don't pay for some things like color sand and buff , wash and cleaning the car after its worked on , rust proffing (under coat ) , very low labor rate , color tinting , lkq and aftermarket part , some insurance co's may be good in other states and not in ct. ?
Thanks Ted, I will give them a call. I am dealing with a local agent now and told her the situation, see how it goes. She is supposed to call me on Tuesday.nhsilversti wrote:paul,
