Ok, so who has film of Frank powering out of corners at 100 mph at Bryar in his Cuda. It scared me to watch him on track as a newbie. Holy Crap.

And at Bridgehampton too, yikes!

Now we have smooth surfaces with run off room. Go off at Bridgehampton and you get stuck in a tree, no kidding.

Frank, post a pic of that car please.

Waah! Mark. Are you trying to make me cry? Where'd you find that picture?

The really sad part is that I'm lapping faster in the Subaru than I ever did in the Cuda.

Sorry, only in my mind.
Subaru might have fast lap times but I'll bet it wouldn't do 148 on the straight at the Bridge; faster than the Ruf Turbo of Taku.

There is much less room for error in a modern car.
I think that is not so much the case. People drive to a limit for errors in both cases. But the cost of the mistakes was much higher in the old days. the fatality rate in a series like Formula 1 used to be %20 a year.

It was a different time. THere is a wonderful picture in one of my driving books from the Mille Miglia. A scene in a small Italian town, the men casually standing on their doorsteps with cigarettes hanging from their mouths. No sidewalks, 12' wide street - Jauguar D-type 3 feet of clear air under it's wheels  Can't find the picture right now....

That Cuda did win on drama. I got a ride in a 'Cuda "S" model around 1970 I still remember....
