SPAM-Generated members - ?

Post by peterfontana » Sat Aug 02, 2008 6:06 pm

I just looked at the Memberlist and noticed over 160 pages of members - over 8300 individuals. It looks like starting 2/28/08 a bunch of international names/places were added. Is there someone who monitors this type of thing? It this a problem?

Just wondering if we have something that needs to be fixed...

What we have can't be fixed. We need a new forum venue. Will Martins diligently eliminates all the trash, but it is nearly a full time job with the new automatic spamming engines. We do not allow any of the trash into the forum, so you will not be pestered by the outlaws.

I'll let the experts work out a new plan.

Wouldn't it be nice to have 8000+ members? We could have 1 minute track sessions, albeit we could afford to rent The Ring!

Wow, great suggestion Bruce! Hey guys, is there any discussion board you know of where pro drivers hang out, as maybe we should mirror what they are doing?

There's a secret society of paid professional drivers at www.zerostagemonster.com too. They hold top secret meetings at a bar who's name rhymes with "sunset grille" in Brighton every Thursday night.

Wow, notice how i easily changed my posts AFTER you guys have posted your replies. With a few keystrokes the 'feel' of this thread has changed to some degree.

So yes and fully agree with the original post, COMSCC may want to check on the security of this site on many levels.
Enjoy the Track,
