Uh oh...I am getting confused. It seems like 15 was the route to take. I don't even see a rt13... is this another inside joke?

Sometimes Rt 15 is fine. This weekend, though, the NAPA Auto Parts 200 (a nascar race for any snobs out there) is running at Le Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Might cause a bit more traffic coming into nthe city on 15.

There is a Rolex series race there as well.Most of that action is Friday/Saturday and I am planning on coming through the city at 3:00pm on Sunday,so the traffic should be clear by then,no? :D

I am going 15. Last time I went up and tried to cross over to 13 (on the way to Calabogie) the entrance ramp to 13 was closed.

For those crusing there on Sunday on the way up it should be fine... most of the Montrealers who have homes in the Laurentians will be on the OTHER side of Hgwy 15 coming BACK to Montreal.
I would agree with Bruce that on the way back, if you plan to leave on Tuesday night after the event make sure you are there past about 8 PM. If not it maybe worth going thru 13 (which is the Hgwy that takes you to Mirabel airport ... and then come around the town via Dorval Airport, Hgwy 20 and then over the Champlain Bridge to the US border (either by Hgy 87) or 93 (preferable... on week-days it's not that bad...).
Again if you are on Hgwy 15 on the week-day going to Montreal and it's away from the traditional rush hours you should be just fine.

So,if I am heading home Wed morning and planning on hitting Montreal at 9:30ish,not a good idea? I could leave a little later if it makes any difference.Or a little earlier if that's better. Too bad there is no bypass around the city. A 20 foot enclosed trailer is a big target for the kamakazis :shock:

You should be fine. Those coming from the North (your way) into work will be ahead of you. Those coming from the south shore (ie. the other side of Champlain Bridge heading into town) there rush hour is almost over. Note there will be a lane on your way that will be for the buses coming from the South and if I am not mistaken it's until 10 AM.
So if you plan on hitting Montreal by 10 you are golden.
There will be the occasional pocket of traffic on the Decarie Expressway (cutting thru Montreal) but you cannot avoid that but it should not be that dramatic.

DJ Brings a good point.
Make sure you stop at the US BORDER before crossing the CANADIAN Border.
Probably they'll charge you a $5 processing fee.
If you are going up 93 note you need to park on the lane where the bus goes for "inspection" and there is really no good parking there.

And on the way back you do NOT need to go on the truck lane... unless so directed.

BTW: Where is the meeting point for those leaving early Sunday AM and going via Hgwy 93 North again? Walkie-talkie on channel 2.5 as usual???

Actually I have the Friendly Canadian folks do it. :lol:
I just hand them a list --they ask all the usual questions "is it for personal use" (mostly in regards to tires) --blah blah blah. They stamp it and hand it back to me.

Then on the way back across into the USA --I just hand them the list and passport.

Maybe they do not like Alfa's in Canada --so Stephan needs to get it "approved for export from the USA" :)

How in depth should your list be? Kind of like:

-4 tires Kumho V710 mounted on really ugly silver wheels
-4, 5 gallon containers of fuel and magic additive
-1 folding chair
-1 tool kit with alll 10mm sockets missing
-1 plastic container with helmet,shoes,fire suit etc.

etc etc?? Just the basic bulky stuff and not a complete inventory?

That's not it... I do it for when I get BACK into the USA ...I travel with a Canadian passport so getting in is no problem. I keep a list, go thru US customs before crossing the CDN border, get it stamped and verified, then I cross the CDN border and only show the paper IF necessary.
On the way back I hand the paper back to the US border and that's that...

I've found myself looking for these things at the track at various times:

1 spare windshield
4 spare rotors with pads
2 spare wheels/tires
1 large ball of steel wool
1 roll of safety wire
5 spare lug nuts
1 extra 9 volt battery
1 "spare" helmet
1 spare motor
3 times the capacity of all fluids (rotary engine)
