Mt. Tremblant Weather

I see nothing but gloom and doom in the forecast. Anyone have a super-reliable long range forecast?

Hope you're right. I just barely survived the one puddle at NHMS2.

I was in run group 13 (how lucky..) and decided to scratch my TT run at nhms2 as I do not have any experience driving on track in wet conditions,especially on slicks. I figured 3 laps trying to go as fast as possible on a wet track was not a good time for me to learn. I can't imagine it's too confidence inspiring. :shock:
I know driving in the wet on track is a skill you must master,especially living in an area where it rains so frequently.
I hope it's a while before I have to start learning... :wink:

My Toyo R888 tires seem to be useless in the wet. On each of my time trial laps at NMHS, I pussyfooted through the puddle before turn 11 and then gently turned and applied moderate power. Each time, the car went completely sideways. Anyone else have experience with these tires in the wet?

Since I live near Montreal, I can probably chime in...

The weather has been VERY variable over the last month or so in and around Montreal. At this point, I do not even look at the next day forecast... We've been getting everything (sun, partially cloudy, cloudy, rain) almost everyday. In june, there was golf ball size hail, and a few days ago, there was a tornado on the St-Lawrence river (link)!

I've been getting the same results with the R888's. I daily drive them, and although they seem to have the same grip as the RA1 in damp condition, they are useless in standing water. :(

Fred! Hopefully you are returning to Tremblant with us (and bringing friends!) this year. :)

I'm surprised to hear about the R888 in the wet. Thought they were supposed to be superior to the RA-1, which in my experience aren't bad. The tread blocks on the R888 are much larger, and the gaps between the blocks significantly smaller, so I guess the lack of wet grip makes sense.

Take my word for it as someone who has driven down the Bridgehampton straight at 140 lock to lock in the rain, these tires suck in the wet.

How about Hoosier wet radials? I almost bought a set this week but they were out of stock in the size I was going to order. I figure I can use my RT615 Azenis if need be :evil:

The Hoosier wets seem to get rave reviews on Tire rack.

Once upon a time, I could afford rain tires too. Now all my money is tied up in a non-negotiable blonde :lol:

I was not supposed to come to Tremblant (saving my pennies for Mosport \:D/). However, I've not been on track since May, and the itch is there. I decided to wing it and do a Monday only. Get up early Monday morning, get there, run all day, get back home. It's not even a 2 hour drive, so this should be considered as my local track.

As for my friends, COMSCC's schedule does not coincide well due to:
A) weekday and not weekend schedule (always a bit more difficult if you're not a "hardcore" enthusiast)
B) Timing is wrong, immediately before Boston BMWCCA (following weekend). Most people I know are already BMW members, so they take the easy way out... Wimps! :)

The good news is that Vince is also supposed to come and do a single day (also Monday). Even more Miatas!

Lovely statement... goes into my book together with Steve's "This marriage is temporarily on hold due to racing" ...
I am also married to a non-negotiable blonde... so to move to another class will mean a 2nd job... but I do have rain tires :wink:

But I still have my Father's Day "coupons" that my kids gave me ... it reads: "five (5) races without Mom nagging" ... and I am yet to cash one :sunny:
