My first COM event (NHMS2)

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed myself at my first COM event.The level of professionalism from the staff and members was reassuring and inspiring.Every one I met was helpful and straightforeward. The classroom time was not only informative,but entertaining.
I also learned Tech inspection is not to be feared if your car is safe and follows the guidelines.
Run groups were timed well and allowed plenty of cool off between runs.
My Instructor (Lester) made me so comfortable in my car; I learned a great deal as he watched me make mistakes and turned them into goals for me to improve upon. I honestly missed him as I went out solo the second day.He even came by to say he was watching me during those solo runs.Very reassuring!Thank you!
When it came time for my time trial run,mother nature dealt a wet blow.Lucky 13... Talk about close.We were lined up at track out,and the starter was counting down from 5 on the first car and the rain came.Not wanting to cause a catch on the other drivers in my run group(or worse..),as I have never driven on track with slicks at any speed,I decided not to run.Being a novice,I figured it was best I preserve my TT experience for the next event.

It was great to put names with faces and cars as well.
A great bunch of car enthusiasts who know how to enjoy driving.
Thanks to all for making a newbie feel so welcome!

I had a great time as well, probably the best time I've ever had at that track. The event was very tightly run, and I appreciate the level of professionalism immensely. The flag workers were total pros. I spoke with a few of them at the cookout and they were very complimentary about the club. They were also very efficient and communicative on track as well.

Glad you had a great time. I heard good things from Les about your day-1 driving. Congratulations for getting signed-to-solo!

Why wait for October if you can do MONT TREMBLANT in August???
Awesome and legendary track, you will have TONS of track time (considerably much more than at NHMS) and now a two day instruction!

It was very interesting to hear of your exploits in Brazil and all the famous racers you have had the honor to meet and the various cars you have driven and events you have attended.
For someone to tell another of these events relates the passion you have for the sport.
If my high school teachers had been as sincere I may have become a people doctor instead of a car doctor.(naah...)

I very much enjoyed our little cat/mouse run on Tuesday morning!, The Focus and the Speed 3 do very well for FWD monsters! Thanks for the run, as always, I learn from following, and I suspect the point bye was merely a courtesy, as you were dealing with the situation very well. Glad you enjoyed!

Coming up behind the Austin Healey was fun till he ran away from me! That sure is one good looking (and fast) car. Sounds to have a bit more under the hood than a straight six.

Correct, Wednesday morning. I had to work on my trip through the 11/12 chicane in order to stay up with you on the straight.

As an aside, I think if Ford would bring the new European Focus RS over here, I might have a new track car!

I doubt Ford will do that.They pedal the Focus here as an econo box for those who need only the basics. The SVT Focus was a giant flop and they won't repeat that soon.
Now,if they would put a stick in the V-6 Fusion...

I also enjoyed the classroom time alot (and not because of the AC, that just helped). I really liked the in-car footage of the session (this was new since the last event I did 2 yrs ago). I thought that was a great tool; plus with all those Alfa photos, how can you not enjoy yourself!

I wish I could do the away events; they just aren't in the budget or vacation time balance this year. Maybe next year if I play my cards right. I slipped and the wife heard how much has been spent preparing the car for the events, so I am on thin ice for a bit.
