911 noob looking for tips

Post by peterfontana » Fri Jul 04, 2008 1:37 pm

I just got a '92 964 C2 and I am looking for track driving tips. I've got about 20 track days, mostly on '69 Mustang (GT-350 clone with 479 hp) and recently a Miata. This 964 is stock and I will be running Yok A048s (medium hard) on 17x7s and 17x9s. After putting not a lot more than a thousand street miles on it, I'm gaining some appreciation for how driving this will be different.

I've been able to get a little orientation time on various on/off ramps, and I'm starting to see how getting on the throttle can settle the back of the car down, and how trail braking can induce some untimely oversteer.

I'll be doing the first day of the NHMS 2 event (next Tuesday). Please pass along what you think will help me stay pointed in the right direction.

What you need is a big parking lot.
