I would like to raise my fender arches about 1.5" all around for running very wide tires for autocross use.However, SP rules prohibits this action. Even though my road course tires/wheels will not stick out beyond the taller fender arches,and the opening will be no wider (actually narrower) than stock, this will bump me out of SP class,correct?

Can I use a bolt on fender flair to correct the situation when running with COM or is that a no-no as well?

I could run in Prepared(B) with the addition of window nets, as I already have a roll bar,6 point SFI belts and a fire suit.Maybe I should just figure on doing that.
I really need those W-I-D-E tires for A/X.

You are correct that SP prohibits modification to the fender arches.

PB + Window nets is the only solution that is legal per the rules. :)

Thanks Will.I guess I'll hunt for a set of net kits. Any suggestions?I have no cage bars so I'll be welding the hardware to my door frames.How exciting... :wink: I could even run the wide A/X rubber on the track I suppose... :shock:

Sounds like a plan. :)

A company called OK Miata sells SafeQuip nets and mounting accessories. You can also find these or similar nets at places like Driver Supply. The Unique item OK Miata sells, is a curved set of tabs to "bolt on" the net hardware to a rollbar via the use of some hose clamps. I have this on one of my cars, and it works fine. Not sure if you could make it work for your setup. OK Miata

So, did you ever tell us what kind of car you've been building?

Don't know if I would order from OK Miata now - have ordered from them in the past but they are getting a lot of bad pub on other boards for late shipping and no communication - try I/O Port Racing

Thanks for the leads guys. This is my little Supercharged Focus that I really enjoy messing around with.It amazes me in its performance and dependability. We'll see how it likes BIG stickies (275's) :twisted: I might have to cut a bit more than 1.5"... Image

Maybe just go with stiffer springs/swaybars to limit suspension travel instead?

At the pictured amount of clearance, one might consider replacing shocks and springs with tie-rods and heim joints!

The suspension does not move much now with H&R race springs and 24mm sways.But,it does need some room; 2.5" should be enough.

The new tires for the Atom may not be in by the 14th, Troy. :twisted: and I am working on the brake bias issue.

Besides,it's fun getting my wrong wheel drive car in the top ten :wink: .

Now,where did I put that chop saw.....

The rear 1/4 panels are not removeable.(well,they don't unbolt) The frt. fenders would come off,but they actually trimmed up very nicely.
With "conventional" size tires,the car looks almost stock.
I was amazed at the inner fender well clearance available on the car even for such a wide tire.
What is really amazing is these are the same wheels/tires I have run on the Atom.
How economically friendly is that?
