Heads up for Calabogie

Post by chaos4NH » Sun Apr 27, 2008 11:09 am

Hotel/motel space nearly non-existent if you plan on arriving on Saturday. Sunday arrivals not much better! As of this morning the Calabogie Motor Inn had ONE room left for Sun-Mon-Tue - 1-866-494-0047
It looks like the Quality Inn, Arnprior - 613-623-7991 - has availability, and is 20 - 30 minutes from the track.
Campiing, is, of course allowed in the South Paddock, but, at this time they are not positive that the Washrooms/showers will be ready. They will be coming off a 3 day motorcycle event when we arrive. Please wait for more info. I will post it when available, but I wanted to get the word out about the scant room availability.

AS of today, I find we will not be able to get into the track and park vehicles until 800 PM, Sunday, May 25. The event before us is a huge 3 day motorcycle shindig, and cannot be cleared for us until 800 PM.
Registration will take place on Monday morning, time schedule to be published soon.

Any more word on the showers?

Post by 05GoatM6 » Sun May 11, 2008 11:02 pm

Has anyone heard if there will be showers available to the campers? Can anyone check into this or does anyone have contact information to find out if they will be available? Thanks a lot.

I will be talking to the track people in the next 2 days. One of the updates they promised me was on the shower/washroom facility. Watch the forum for my information.

Well, the word is not good for those wishing to partake of showers and use flush toilets. The facilities will not be ready for some time yet. The track has just been connected to Hydro, which was necesary in order to continue with the construction effort. Oh, ya, I had to ask, "hydro"? We call it electricity. Up until now, they have been operating on a generator.

The track also reports lower turnouts for most of the events. The economy is not kind to us!

"Hydro" in Canada IS Electric power they EXPORT big time to the USA.
Quebec Hyro (or Hidro-Quebec), Ontario Hydro, etc. are all electric companies.
Cold shower anyone?

Wish i could make it as love the track, yet have an SCCA event that bumps right up against it. Fuel costs do not help Calabogie either as i drained over $200 for the tow truck just going to Pocono and back. SCCA kinda forces you to go to Poco ('free' points and all that).

Poco was boring, should been smoking a cigar during the race and installed cup holders in the F2000 for the occasions beverage. Hope COM never does Poco.
Enjoy the Track,

I just canceled my reservation at Calabogie Motor Inn so they should have a room available if anyone still needs one.
