Lunch at The Glen

Post by chaos4NH » Mon Apr 14, 2008 10:39 pm

Sorry for the late notice, but we recently were informed that the snack bar will not be open for our event. The track catering service has given us the following option:
LUNCH ON THE RUN
A Deli Style Sandwich of Ham, Turkey, or Roast Beef with Cheese served on White, Wheat, or Kaiser Roll with all the fixings. Your choice of Potato or Pasta Salad. Also included with your lunch are Potato Chips, Cookie and your choice of Pepsi Product / Water. Lunches on the Run is Delivered in the Garage in a take out box…. $8.00 per Person + 8% NYS tax . The catering service will be around prior to lunch with a sheet to be filled out indicating each persons choice of sandwich and drink type.

That's fine but here's other suggestions:

How about a massive PIZZA delivery? Sure there's got to be a Domino's in the area.
Either that or we pitch in and do a BBQ.

When the snack bar has been open, I've felt obligated to eat there as I know the club had to guarantee a minimum. I may just go into town instead.

We have pizza delivered to a couple of different tracks out here in Michigan. The club even pays for the pizza as part of the registration fee.

There is a Pizza Hut right at the bottom of the hill heading back into town.

As most of you know, the club at one time paid for a first night dinner. Unfortunately, increases in costs to the club ruled out the club financed meal. The BOD would like nothing better than to be able to, once again, resume club financed get togethers for the members. At this time, that would not be a possibility.
I checked with the catering guy and he is sending me a sample of the order form for the lunches. You are not obligated to use that service, but the caterer is hoping for at least 30 lunches per day.
We will print out the order forms and have them available in the garage each morning. The service will pick up the sheets around 930AM, prepare the desired lunches and deliver them to the garage at noon.
If somone wants to organize a Pizza buy, feel free to do so.

Sam -

I'll take my sandwich with Swiss cheese and Xtra mayo. A bag of regular chips would be nice too.

Thanks -

Right on Sam, thanks for the explanation.

I'll take Roastbeef with Swiss on Kaiser roll with Mustard and Mayo. Potato salad, Chips and cookies would be great.
For drink I'll take 7-Up.

Will this service be for both days?

Cheers!

Lets not go there on the expenses Sam :? I got a talking too the last time I posted some of the costs of doing the event  but you could cheap out like me --- grill - Christmas gift, gas for grill-- $1.50, 2# 80% lean hamberg (the high fat kind cooks better and cost less $6.50-, day old bread -- $.99, stolen katchup, $.00, Charles Shaw Merlot (2 buck Chuck) $2.99- Total $11.98 for a fresh hot meal for 3 , not too bad :D plus I don't have to drive to town.

Nice touch Dan ... please don't be skimpy on the Merlot .... you should consume better anti-oxidants

Stephan don't be a wine "snob".Have you tried "two buck Chuck" :?: Their Chardonnay won in a blind wine tasting against wines cost over $40-$60 a bottle. Their wine is good stop by my trailer for a "wine tasting" I should have some "two buck Chuck " and some Crane Lake (also from the same winery).

Dan turned me on to Crane Lake last year, it is quite good. I just haven't been able to find it at a store near me.
