Are you looking for a June Event?

Post by 91rs13 » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:51 am

Since COM has no June event ...If you are looking for a place to play, Patroon BMWCCA is at Watkins Glen June 16th and 17th ( Mon-Tues)

In the past we have run just a traditional HPDE format. This year we added an Advanced solo/ Instructor Candidate/Open Track style group.

For Qualified drivers there will be approx 4 hrs per day of track time.
No Time trial though. Cost is $450 for both days --If you are a qualified instructor you can talk to Dave Gelardi (dgelardi AT aol.com ) to see if he needs help. ( no charge for instructors)

I am sorry to say we do not allow open wheel cars. Convertibles are only allowed with full SCCA cages ( AKA Spec Miatas)

Is my Atom considered an open wheel car with the cycle fenders in place?

It is legally registered and insured.

Fenders would not be the issue. The lack of a full cage in an open car would be an issue with the club ( not with me--but we run by committee). In fact we have a former Atom owner who sold his car because it could not run with us. ( one of the reasons)

The Atom IS a rolling rollcage.

Too bad about the restriction.

White Mountain chapter of BMW club allows open wheel cars. I'll be there at NHMS on April 18.

Do they really? Cool. We have had the Diasio's, Sport2000's, the Pro trucks etc --but no open wheel stuff.

CCA Rules are basic rules --some chapters have stricter rules than others. the CCA rules allow a Convertible with a DOM or ERW Roll Bar --but our chapter requires a cage.
