Glad to see there was no mention of "Segway PT" mixed up with those pesky devices beyond the paddock area so I comply
Also are we allowed to camp as in set up tent?

I believe the "camping" area is the tarmac of the South Paddock. It is hard to drive the tent pegs into tarmac.StephanAlfa wrote:Glad to see there was no mention of "Segway PT" mixed up with those pesky devices beyond the paddock area so I comply

Further update of information:Yes, this is a repeat, but I can't stress this enough:
">Please do not call the track directly. Email me and I will either answer your questions or obtain the answer from the Glen Operations Manager."
Garage sales will take place Sunday evening from 600 - 800 PM. If you arrive after that, you may park your vehicles, but, as previously stated, do not occupy any garage until you pay for and are assigned garage space on Monday morning.
Camping: Stephan, if you can find a grassy space close to the South Paddock, you may pitch a tent
Do not forget to send your list of persons attending to the Registrar! The gate personnel will check the list when your guests enter the track.
The Souvenir shop will be open both days from 1100AM until the end of the lunch period ~100pm
The word from Control at the Glen is: "we are in good shape and foresee no problems running the event, short of a freak snow storm." (like last year?)

Last year at the Glen we had a participant’s guests drive over 2 hours to get to the track and they were turned away at the front gate.
This was because the front gate staff couldn’t find the correct guest names on the Guest List provided by COMSCC.
I’ve seen a few postings here on the forum where members are talking about finding hotel rooms for their families, talk about driving out Saturday with their families, etc. etc. Are these people coming to the track?
I only have a few quests listed on the current Guest List. It would be prudent to send me the names of any potential quests – if they don’t make fine. I would much rather include a prospective guest than have someone turned away.
My e-mail address is: COMRegistrar@Comcast.net
PS - To Scott R.: How do you feel about no db limit at the Glen?

Hello all,
I for one would never suggest any freinds or family come to that track with me anymore. After last years blistering introduction err...welcome to the track last year they could meet more pleasant folks at the RMV during a cumputer shutdown Everyone to stay in the garage area and not to set foot on the park like 5000 acres.
I enjoy hanging out at the garage but any "casual" racing friends I have would give me a beating bringing them 6 hrs one way to stand on the pavement.
I love to drive on the track and realize the track dosen't need us there..... a point they make abundantley clear.

Re: watkins glen
Can we get clarification on this point? This was a new policy last year and I agree that it stinks. In years prior we and our guests were free to go to other parts of the track to watch and/or take pictures. WGI is a great track to watch the action but if people only get to see the garages, it's not all that exciting.jimmacsrx7 wrote: Everyone to stay in the garage area and not to set foot on the park like 5000 acres.

Here is the official word, from Steve Ely, WGI Operations Manager:Scooter70 wrote:Can we get clarification on this point? This was a new policy last year and I agree that it stinks. Drivers and guests may proceed to other points on the track.
Restrictions: Stay on the pavement with vehicles - DO NOT hot rod. Viewing must be done from the spectator areas (do not wander down to flag stations, or past any barriers). If you are unsure of where you can/cannot go, ask!
Participants are responsible for their guests. Violations may result in removal of the participants and their guests. Children found unattended will result in the removal of the responsible participant and guests.
Watkins Glen Operations is looking for a safe, professionally conducted event, and is willing to work with us. Let's not muck up the works by being anything but safe, professional, and polite to WGI personnel.
And most of all----have fun!

Thanks Sam. The grandstand at the top of the esses is one of my favorite spots for pictures. I'm glad to hear that we'll be able to go over there this year.

Haha, I totally missed this threadoffcamber09 wrote:I can't believe Raj is letting all of these tent pitching comments go without some remark of his own. He really IS taking the year off...eh?
I won't be at the Glen, but if I have to pitch a tent, I'd rather it be with a Miata guy than a Mustang guy.
