Just curious what brought you into the club. A friend? Website? Association with other club?

After voting, please respond the the topic! Would be great to know some of the details!

Finding Out about COM

Post by Don P » Fri Dec 16, 2005 12:26 pm

I know many found out about us and joined after seeing and talking with us at the World of Wheels and Racearama shows. I'd guess dozens over the years.

Scott and I joined after meeting Steve & Chris Tier at a SCCA event at NHIS.

Craig joined once he witnessed the fun and camaraderie his dad and brother were having in COMSCC.

I learned about time trails from Rod Folia, He was a customer at my old work and I used to do exhaust work on his RX3 track car. Then years later, I talked to Grove at the Springfield racearama and picked up a pamphlet.

Don and Mike, you make an excellent point.

The poll has been updated to include the World of Wheels and Racearama shows! Should have been there from the start!

I don't think so., it may have been in 1999 or 2000. It was a couple of years before I joined the club. I just remember there was an in car video playing and some old dude handing out flyers.

Cough, cough,

Old dude, that must have been me. Anyhow always glad to have recruited another (fast) contributing member.

I was just another one of many Miata drivers that Lee, Les, and Will dragged along for the ride. I met them all thru our autocross club. After my first event at Summit point I was hooked.

yupo - all Will and co's (Gordon, lester, Lee) fault for me too coming over from renegade Miata Club. Have not looked back since, apart form to wave them by :)

Did put a dent in my autocross attendance figures though....

I first heard about COM from a business acquaintance who's also a car guy, and then from Lee Walsh at autox events, and then Will and Gordon added fuel to the fire.

The proximate cause for my entering my first event was Fred Sanford telling me as my instructor at a BMWCCA event at NHIS that I would be competitive in SSB.

Thanks to all of you because I have a blast at the track, and really enjoy the time trials as a way to measure improvement - when it occasionally occurs.

Dennis
Sad to see my SSB 2001 Miata go.
