I'll second the Thule. One thing I'd correct is that for every $10 you spend, when you go to sell, you'll get $10. I first had a custom 14' open trailer built for me. 900 pounds. Sold it for what I paid and upgraded to an 18' cargo trailer (the CRX only weighs 1600 pounds). It was in stock at Atlantic Coast in Charlton and I got it maybe a year and a half ago for $7800. It weighs 2100 pounds empty and if you really, really want to lighten it, the plywood sides inside (for protection) weigh 210 pounds, if you remove them.

All kidding aside, good luck on your search. Sometimes you find it's easier to buy new because it is road ready, etc. and you don't have to work on it.
Now sure if you tried NE Trailer in Kingston ... many COM members recommend that location when getting new.
As for fixing trailers for sure contact our good COM member Ted (codename NHSILVERSTI).

Of course one advantage a 20' has over a 24' is more load carrying capacity, providing both fitted with 3500# axles. Trailer weight is less= bigger payload.

I am trying to keep the empty trailer weight below 3k. lbs.

I am a big fan of less is more

The only reason I was considering a 28 footer is it would allow me to carry the Atom and another car.But,I am questioning that mindset.

I believe 20' will be ideal for now. Room for one car and gear.

sorry i only custom build open trailers and do add-on type things like tire racks. i do however have a 6 X 12 tubing frame landscape trailer for sale. it is a trailer i built for myself and no longer need, im asking 1500 for it.

An 18 or 20' trailer is going to be a sail for cross winds anyways. The V in the front of the Thule will reduce your drag. Compared to the same total cargo lenth in a square trailer, a V will be less of a sail than a square front.

I can't see how a 14' anything would be a problem. Was he pulling it with a Wrangler? (my last tow vehicle before the Yukon XL).

My Thule is an 18' cargo. 2100 pounds empty. 6000 pounds vs I think 7000 for the car type. With the ramp and front side door, I paid $7800 2 years ago at Atlantic Coast....who had it in stock, so sold it for the price of the 16' that they'd have to order. I do know the prices have gone up.

Oh....aluminum trailers don't lose value. Good way to go.

Thanks guys.I did buy a 20' all alu Thule enclosed at Atlantic Coast in Charlton.$9k out the door. Nice people to deal with.
Weighs 2300lbs empty and 3700 with my car.

Tows pretty well with just a bit of wagging (on rt2...),but I have been told I don't have enough tongue weight on the truck.

Guess I had better buy one of those heavy cars,eh?
