F1 Boston Simulator racing
F1 Boston just setup a 4 cockpit simulator room off the main lobby. Being a Sim racer, I went out there a couple of weeks ago to look it over.
These are not 3D motion simulators, but really just high-end cockpits
with a single large displays (maybe 37" - 40"), a Logitech G25, and a
loud sound system.
The price is reasonable at $15.00 for 12 minutes, you can rent out the
whole room (all 4 simulators) for 1 hour for $250. So I was thinking
it might be interesting for some of you if you were interested in
getting together some night, and run a tournament style event. with 4 -
8 of us.
I testing Watkins in a Elise, most of the tracks COM runs are available.
I'm pretty much limited to just a Thursday night after 7:00PM.
Any interest?
Pass this on to Alison, I don't see many posts from her. But her Eaglewomen website got me into Sim racing 8+ years ago, then to AutoX, then HPDE, then TT. Hope to get back on the real track this season, but the funds just aren't available yet.

Virtual-GT isn't the program it's the name of the bundled product.
The Simulator that I ran in the Virtual-GT was rFactor, I'm sure they also have a few other Sims on hand as well.
None of the off the shelf sim products come with all the local tracks, but GTR, GTR2, Race 07, and rFactor to name a few all have a large number of downloadable tracks including Watkins, and LRP.

I understand your point. I already have a full cockpit setup at home, but it doesn't give me the opportunity to race face to face against people I respect and like to be around.CP wrote:I'd rather buy a Playstation and Gran Turismo for that money and then have the option of playing from my couch whenever I want to. F1Boston = ripoff.
So my purpose of paying $60 to run a sim at F1 Boston is the more the social aspect than hotlapping at home with your console/sim of choice.

Once GT5 comes out, play on-line against other players. Or set up a LAN with other players. I've done the lan thing a few times with GT4 and PS2's and it was pretty cool. At the first one, my son (I think he was 8 at the time) had a unique style.......he'd get behind...quite a bit and then avoid a turn, take a short cut through the grass and T Bone whoever was in the lead. Worked well for him. Out of 10 adults, he came in 2nd in a 10 race tournement. I tied for last.
