Daytona again
Hey all, I will be heading down again to the 24 again this year.
Our third year,it has become a very fun tradition. It will be good to root on the Mazda's again this year in GT,specifically the #70 Speedsource.
Any other com members going? I know Tommy usually goes.
Hopefully the weather will be good.

Those DP cars are *not* getting any easier to look at. I can't bring myself to care what goes on in that class.
I went a couple of times in the early 90s. Saw the Toyota Mk III's, Jaguar's and Nissan's Group C cars, and the drop-dead gorgeous Mazda GTP car. Ah, good times...

We stopped going to Daytona after the factory Corvettes pulled out of Grand Am. 2002 was boring without them. 2001 was a great year, when Corvette won overall and the Earnhardts ran in the second team car. We met Dale and Dale Jr in the paddock on Saturday morning before the race. 2 weeks later Sr had the accident in the 500. I had been a fan of his for years and it was cool to finally meet him. I'm glad I had the chance while he was still here.

Those 90s cars were cool, but didn't have quite the personality or degree of pucker factor as did the earlier unlimited CanAm cars before rules and the Porsche 930 killed off the series.

I saw a vintage fest at Daytona in 04. Awesome seeing these and all the GTP cars. Real eye-candy.
The event was piggybacked onto short GrandAM race (250 miles?) in November. Seeing the DP cars the very next day, really highlighted just how butt ugly they are. Not to mention how much slower visually
