T/T license sign-off
Hi guys
I posted the 2008 schedule on the MR2 message board and a friend who has a C Prepared MR2 (1 seat only), is wondering if his SCCA Time-trial license will be recognized for him to get signed off?
Or does he have to bring along a street car?

single seat cars/ sign-offs
Is that the same as a Solo I or Solo II license? I think the decision has been on a case-by-case basis but officials will want credentials and/or references and at least one checkout/sign-off session. If the person is truly qualified to drive solo on track (Mosport?, Calabogie?, Tremblant?) there will be no problems w/ a single-seat car, imo.

SCCA did away with the Solo1 and soloII designations.boltonite wrote:Is that the same as a Solo I or Solo II license? An SCCA TT license is a license grade which should have required being signed off in a PDX/Club trials type program. --Similar to the old Solo1 Licenses

I believe that Fred is correct - these are handled on a case-by-case basis.
We require all first time COM participants to register as students. Whether or not they remain students for a single check ride or the whole day, is decided by their instructor and/or the chief instructor. If all that is necessary is a check-ride, the student typically gets promoted up to an appropriate licensed class for the remainder of the day.
Everybody gets at least a check-ride.
Carl, Mark, and others...please correct me if I'm wrong!

Well... that depends on the street car. Its relative. He would be learing how to use the street car on the track and will then know nothing about his own track car on the track if the specs are different (ex: front vs rear wheel drive, car milled out vs. stock). I'd rather take then on mine (show them some body roll ) and then see if they adjust to lead/follow. The gauge is lead/follow. If they are not respescting that they are not paying attention and that will lead to take secondary measures imho.JackFFR1846 wrote:I hate lead/follow (maybe because the student always seems to crash).
Have him bring his street car to the school and swap to the track car once checked off. Instructors (at least me) would be far happier.
