There is no plan behind my question/poll. Just curious to hear what members thought. Personally, I would welcome the chance to run one of these events with COM, but whether or not it would be financially viable is another question.
Herb is looking to fill a gap we have in our schedule, and the idea of Shenandoah has been kicked around. Someone mentioned VIR or MidOhio, and it got me thinking, that's all.

Well, I guess that is the problem. The track seems to have a large following of people that do not like it. I liked it a lot more the 2nd time around (there were several changes made), but wouldn't consider it among my favorites.rajito wrote:Will, Shenandoah seems like a bad idea in terms of both participation and finances. I'm sure the 10 people who went there a couple years ago enjoyed it, but I doubt the club made much money there.

VIR 1st, Mid-Ohio 2nd - I'd do either in a heartbeat.
Pocono has one configuration that looks interesting, having never been there to drive, I'd consider it. Same for BeaveRun or Thunderhill.
Shenandoah does have some similarities to Calabogie, I'd prefer Summit Main.
Does Le Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve rent out? Seems like a possibility.
Someday I'd like to do a road trip and hit a bunch of tracks across the country like Road America, Road Atlanta, Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca, Infineon, Sebring,......maybe a COM version of One Lap???

MAJOR DIFFERENCE: Calabogie is in CANADA eh!? BEST people in the WORLD!Grippy wrote:I am very surprized that people dislike Shenendoah so much but everyone seemed to like Calabogie. I thought both were similar and very chalenging, way more fun than LRP.
Oh, BTW: Brazilians a great too but you would not want to race there because the price will be equivalent to a couple of Miatas
Check this one out in action at Interlagos Race Circuit circa 1974, Sao Paulo, Brazil... Ohmygosh! It's NOT an Alfa!
Shenendoah because it's closest, and I haven't run there before. That having been said, it's not looking like I'll make any away events next year.
I've driven both VIR and Mid-Ohio. They're a close #2 and #3 behind Mosport on tracks that still exist that are my favorites that I've driven.
Pocono is blah, and from what I recall, expensive.
I've been to BeaveRun, though not driving, and the kart track interested me WAY more than the car track. If you're going there, tow the extra 45 min to Nelson Ledges.

I'd also vote yes to have two Canada events a day or so apart - say Calabogie on Monday-Tuesday and Mosport on Thursday-Friday. That would help out on the tows.
Forgot about Nelson Ledges - combine that with Mid-Ohio. Or maybe right before or after Watkins Glen - you're almost halfway there from WG.
