Does anyone have GTR2?
Just picked up GTR2 (driving simulation game) and it is pretty cool. You can download all kinds of tracks, and cars. So far I have Limerock, NHIS, Watkins Glen, Pocono, Mt Tremblant, and Mosport. They are all pretty realistic, but NHIS is a little bit off. I am just trying to modify one of the cars so that it drives close to my own car, so that I can practice those tracks. I was just curious if anyone else has the game.

I've never played with GTR2, but I've been a long-time user of Grand Prix Legends, and now rFactor. I participate in an on-line "league" of sorts where we race every week at tracks famous and obscure. It's very cool. Certainly nothing as good as the real thing, but way better than watching TV, for example.
Twice when I've been at a real track for the first time (Lime Rock and Mosport) I've had instructors in the car with me ask me "Are you sure you've never driven this track before?" I had learned the line in GPL, and it translated pretty much perfectly to real life.

Dave: You sound like Jacques Villeneuve when he joined F-1 and went to race on tracks for the 1st time ... and won. He used simulated PC games to learn the track...Dave_G wrote:I've never played with GTR2, but I've been a long-time user of Grand Prix Legends, and now rFactor. I have it on good authority that GTR2 is under the tree. I was checking out the wheel/pedals and the website for tracks. I don't see any tracks other than the FIA tracks. The wheel/pedals to get seems to be the Logitech G25 for $225. Maybe some of my questions will be answered in the box ?
Joel, it would be pretty cool to be able to race you on the web- I could add that 100 HP to keep up with you on the straights!
Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks for the post. I want to create a virtual car to sim race as close as possible to my little red POS. I know... I know... most sim games don't allow for anything under 150 chp or parts from the junk yard.
I assume GTR2 and Rfactor don't have any FWD USDM Japanese eco cars. Do any other PC games allow for my needs? Was it Gran Turiso on PS2 do what I want?

After 15 minutes of GTR2 without a wheel and pedals- I will be ordering the G25 set this week.

Yeah, the pedals are an absolute must....the game is no good without them. Scott, I am ready when you are. Just let me know when you are ready. I can let you know the site on the web where you can download all the tracks, and the upgraded cars. Watkins Glen is probably the best track.....very realistic, followed closely by Mt Tremblant, then Limerock, and last place is NHIS. I am in the process of trying to create a car that handles similarly to my car......the cars on the game and downloads handle way too well to be my car, so my sim laps are much faster. I pulled off a :51 second lap at Limerock.....too bad I will probably never drive there again!
