So how did the meeting go?
For those who were unable to attend and yet itching to hear the news...
I guess the big one is the new harness rule.
Harnesses have to be SFI or FIA approved.
SP and P will be checked for dates. As was brought up in the meeting an SFI belt is not SFI approved if it is out of date.
SS and ST get a break. Theoretically one could have out of date belts and wear the DOT 3 point over them.
Add belts to the Christmas list.

Thanks!
Humm... perhaps we should add this to the checklist when members are registering for events.
The tech sheet wil also need to be revised FYI
Just FYI when I help out at tech am having the driver show me the helmet rating (to speed things up). We should also ask them to show us the dates on the harnesses.

Hey! I changed the springs already ... what more you want from the spaghetti machine???brucesallen wrote:and Alfas need outriggers like they use at Consumer Reports in rollover tests.StephanAlfa wrote:For those who were unable to attend and yet itching to hear the news...
Oh no Stephan --- change of springs puts you in ST4 !!
Your request to have the Audi 5 cylinder turbo move out of SSC was passed. The request to allow the Honda S2000s to run with their stock "rollbars" did not pass. My request to allow panhard bars in ST did not pass (tie vote). No special class for Spec Miatas. WRX STi have been outlawed (just kidding) , No special STX class allowed for noncomlpying cars to run for time only -- no points, Sunroofs maybe removed, and I had to leave at 10:00 pm but the meeting was still going on.

No worries ... I have the bill... they were changed for ANOTHER set of STOCK springs... I ran them at LRP ... came in 3rd ... did not think Rob or Jack had something hiding there..DanDarcy wrote:Oh no Stephan --- change of springs puts you in ST4 !!
But I AM thinking about going to ST-4. Means I have to take these spring out (and sell it) and get other suspension stuff. Bruce will be disappointed... no more body roll
We had 11 of 13 board members on hand. The majority of proposals that passed, passed with 100% support. All proposals voted on were discussed at length.
Of the rules, the most controversial were:
Allow addition of panhard bars in ST, did not pass, almost 50/50 split.
Allow use of adjustable length control links in ST, did not pass, almost 50/50 split.
Disqualify from the event cars which fail Track Record tech inspection, passed, almost 50/50 vote. Up until now, cars that failed the Track Record tech inspection kept their finishing place and points unless the car was protested by a fellow competitor.
The harness rule was discussed quite a bit, changed some from the original proposal, and finally passed. I believe the final vote was unanimously in favor of the new rule.
There were about 30 proposals all together. Only one proposal was tabled for the next meeting as it required more research. All other rules were addressed.
It was a long night, but I think we got a lot accomplished. Thanks to all of those who attended and contributed!

I guess having not run a time trial in 2 years was sort of hiding .
I had to ask Mark all kinds of questions because I forgot the rules. Rob was the first guy I ever licensed with COM (damn....should have taught him to be slower). Watch out for Chad (black Saab) as I licensed him at LRP. If he can get a car with more power than 85 or less weight than 6500 pounds, he'll be flying.

Can aftermarket links be used if they're fixed length, same as stock?WillM wrote:Allow use of adjustable length control links in ST, did not pass, almost 50/50 split.

Aftermarket links cannot be used, but bushings are free. In other words, you may use any type of bushing in the stock link and remain legal in ST.
Non-stock suspension links of any type will push the car into SP.
If there is one thing that I think is odd about ST, it is that anti-swaybar endlinks must be stock. I'm surprised a rule proposal has not been submitted to allow aftermarket anti-swaybar links.
Seems like this allowance would be a good fit for ST. I suspect that many ST cars already have them.
Someone might be able to propose a change, for example:
OLD RULE:
X. STREET TOURING
3.A. Any bolt-in anti-sway bar(s) may be added, substituted, or subtracted.
NEW RULE:
X. STREET TOURING
3.A. Any bolt-in anti-sway bar(s) and/or anti-sway bar endlink(s) may be added, substituted, or subtracted.

Give me some time to get better known around here. I didn't feel particularly comfortable joining the club and right away making a nuisance of myself by suggesting how the rules should be changed, but now that I've been here a couple years...WillM wrote:If there is one thing that I think is odd about ST, it is that anti-swaybar endlinks must be stock. I also think it's odd that my ST4 Miata can have a big honking front sway bar, but I can't use aftermarket (i.e. stronger and adjustable) end links with it. Maybe next fall I'll make just the proposal that you mention.

I read it as you can add any swaybar. If my car didn't have a swaybar, what do I use for links?
I might suggest links are part of the sway bar (don't work without them)
therefore, links should also be free.
