Peter - Its that you in the 911 behind the Alfa??

Post by StephanAlfa » Thu Nov 22, 2007 10:41 am

Does anyone remember Eliot Shanabrook at COM? He was the one who brought me into the club.
He is still racing his Alfa GTV (was ST-3 class in those days but now has been seriously modified) in Vintage Races. I think the Porsche 911 behind him is Peter's - can you confirm?. This Pic was the vintage races (last year?) at Watkins Glen.
His Alfa is a rocket, awesome car.

That looks like the corner going into the toe of the boot at the Glen (looking down the straightaway) if I had to guess.

I think it is Turn 11 onto the front straight.

Comon, the picture with the 911 (sorry Stephan I don't know who that is) behind the Alpha is the braking zone of turn 3 NHIS- look at the fence in the background.

No No No, the bottom, picture is not NHIS. No cones on the right (right of the pic, left of the track) that are always there at NHIS. I vote for WGI in the bottom pic. That wall to the left looks like the one that Lou M tangled with back in April.
But, the cones are there for the shute into turn 3 at NHIS in the top picture, for sure..

Aaaargh, my ears. I'm surprised Steffan hasn't whacked you in the forehead.

Anomina Lombardo Fabrica Automobili (from memory). Not the first letter in the Greek alphabet. ALFA.

(sorry.....I've had 2 spiders)

Anyone who writes "Alpha" I will either correct or ignore.
I corrected Will ... once
Scott ... you all set? How's your "Tangy Frod" doing?

Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili = ALFA

See if I remember their logos:

Frigging Overdrivers Rambling Device = FORD

Many Imitations of Alfa Trying to Amaze = MIATA
Just made these up... 8)

New Alpha

Post by Don P » Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:05 pm

Hey gang -

In the latest AUTOWEEK (11/26) you'll find the latest Alpha. $250K and it doesn't have as much body roll as Stephan's (but not by much). How bout that !

I like the GTV2000 a bunch. Took a good look at one for sale at Lime Rock vintage event earlier this year. Some day!

That said, now that we have defined ALFA, let's not forget ROMEO:

Rusty
Old
Macaroni-mobile
Embarrassing
Owners daily.
