I can see why John Henry and the Kentucky speedway guys got sticker shock. It is insane what cup dates are worth nowadays. This up in the F1 land as far as money. If I remember correctly, Bruton and Bahre split 6-8 million to buy out North Wilksboro to split the cup dates and close the track down.
Look at the economics.
Rockingham speedway; 1.1 mile oval, 80,000 seats, 0 cup dates 4.4 million.
NHIS; 1.04 mile oval, 90,000 seats, 2 cup dates, 340 billion.

The economics may make sense because of the NASCAR dates but what i'm saying is it doesn't make sense to keep us.
I'm just wondering things like how many times can you drop oil on a track before it ruins things for the pros. Is it possible to ruin the surface?

I agree with you. The hill we enjoy so much would make a lot more money as grandstands, luxury condo, vip seating, etc. If they take the hill away from us; they could make some sort of infield section comming off of turn 1, make a back straight chicane using the entry of turn 3, and call this a road course.

I heard on the radio that additional seating was not allowed by the town (according to previous agreements with the former track owner). Not sure if anyone knows if the previous agreements with the town are part of the new owners purchase agreement or not.
Sure will be interesting to see how it plays out. I hope things change for the better, and not worse.

Ya, but we and the other clubs are what pays the light bills between NASCAR events.

This should mean that they will still need to have a road course!

Ya, and maybe the new guy will improve the road course to draw the AMA crowd back. The Pros have declared the present "road course" unsafe for serious motorcycle racing.

Any track renovation is a potential problem for us. It certainly was last time the track was sold and updated.
