looks like some of you want the 'air cleaner' rule changed.
please discuss the options to help with my voting,
Change 1:
NEW_RULE: X. STREET TOURING
5. A. Any air cleaner assembly may be used. Original carburetor or fuel injection throttle body (or OEM equivalents with same flow rate) must be used in the stock configuration. All hardware related to the air cleaner assembly before the TB is open. In all cases, intake manifold must remain stock as delivered.
OLD_RULE: X. STREET TOURING
5. A. Any air cleaner may be used. Original carburetor or fuel injection throttle body (or OEM equivalents with same flow rate) must be used. In all cases, intake manifold must remain stock as delivered.
COMMENTS: Just a clarification to the existing rule. There seems to be some confusion between the air filter (element) and air cleaner (housing).
Change 2:
NEW_RULE: (Proposed)
5. A. Any air cleaner or intake (up to the throttle body for naturally aspirated vehicles and up to the turbo/supercharger compressor inlet for forced-induction vehicles) may be used. Original carburetor or fuel injection throttle body (or OEM equivalents with same flow rate) must be used. In all cases, intake manifold must remain stock as delivered.
OLD_RULE: (Original)
5. A. Any air cleaner may be used. Original carburetor or fuel
injection throttle body (or OEM equivalents with same flow rate) must
be used. In all cases, intake manifold must remain stock as delivered.
COMMENTS: The intent is to clarify the rule regarding section of the intake from the air cleaner/filter to the throttle body. The original rule does not specify, thus leaving the decision up to the steward interpretation of the rule.
Change 3:
NEW_RULE: X. STREET TOURING
5. A. Any air cleaner or intake assembly (up to the throttle body for naturally aspirated vehicles and up to the turbo/supercharger compressor inlet for forced-induction vehicles) may be used. All hardware related to the air cleaner assembly (ie: “cold air intake” or “air intake”) is open. Original carburetor or fuel injection throttle body (or OEM equivalents with same flow rate) must be used. In all cases, intake manifold must remain stock as delivered.
OLD_RULE: X. STREET TOURING
5. A. Any air cleaner may be used. Original carburetor or fuel injection throttle body (or OEM equivalents with same flow rate) must be used. In all cases, intake manifold must remain stock as delivered.
COMMENTS: The intent is to clarify the rule regarding section of the intake from the air cleaner/filter to the throttle body. The original rule does not specify, thus leaving the decision up to the steward interpretation of the rule.
