Only one new rule proposal!

Post by brucesallen » Thu Oct 18, 2007 4:05 pm

In case you haven't noticed, on the COM main page is a link to submit rule changes for next year. At next month's Board meeting these proposals will be considered. At last night's Board meeting we discovered that only ONE rule change has been submitted to date. Nothing on this forum is considered.

Thank goodness that we won't have much work to do at the next Board meeting.

Just to add a little. Last year we did a major revamp for the classes, and some cars got moved around. I happen to think that Nate and everyone else involved did an excellent job, but I don't have a dog in that fight.

If anyone feels that maybe their car (or any car) is classed incorrectly, now's the time to speak up. Remember, in this case we're not talking about particular cars, or what modifications are allowed or not; we're talking about where an SS or ST level car belongs in relation to other SS or ST cars. And if you propose a change, please be prepared to gather your facts and sell it at the November meeting. Every year we get suggestions and requests for rule changes that die on the table because no one is present to champion them.

Thanks Tom

I propose a rule change:
No more changes to the rules.

I'd like to squeeze in a suggestion in all fairness to them Miatas: make it a true SSM class for the Spec Miatas.
Then again there would be nothing left in SPC other than Mike, Andrew/Aric and Mark.
Before I suggest it, how about your 2 cts?

Getting beat by Mick in his M3 is one thing but constantly losing to a pack of Miatas is a huge blow to Andrew's ego.

OK, so now we're up to about 10 rules changes.

Yeah, but mine's an easy one, a no-brainer almost, so it doesn't really contribute to the work load!

Just submitted my new rule. Should I go to the next Board Meeting to support the submission or are they simply reviewed as written and then voted upon?

please feel free to contact the board of directors prior to the meeting; they are the ones who will be voting. there is nothing wrong with lobbying your point of view.

As Tom stated above
"Every year we get suggestions and requests for rule changes that die on the table because no one is present to champion them. "

If you submit a proposal, you should go to the meeting to state your case.

Just want to re-visit this as we approach the meeting date:

The annual Rules Meeting will be on the Fourth Wednesday in November (the 28th) instead of the day before Thanksgiving! The location of the monthly meetings is now the Yangtze River Restaurant in Littleton (on Route 110, off Route 119, which is Exit 31 off Route 495)

Forgive my rookiness on this but nowhere on the website it states the TIME of the meeting?

Forgive my ignorance here, but is there a reason that the rules proposals are not listed anywhere?

I think this would help drum up interest in lobbying for or against these, prior to the actual meeting. There may be arguments either way, but if there is concern about publicly discussing them keep it off the forums, but at least the proposals can be acknowledged.

just an idea..

I submitted a rules proposal, but IMO, it's a no brainer to pass.

I proposed that we add Calabogie as an official approved track configuration.
