Are you kidding? He just paid 360 large for NHIS. I'm sure NE Dragway can be bought for the change under his couch cushions. We think those two places are far apart, but in the rest of the country, 20 miles is as good as next door....offcamber09 wrote:What will be the db limit for that?chaos4NH wrote:Latest rumor: Bruton has a committment from NHRA for a national drag event. I can see why John Henry and the Kentucky speedway guys got sticker shock. It is insane what cup dates are worth nowadays. This up in the F1 land as far as money. If I remember correctly, Bruton and Bahre split 6-8 million to buy out North Wilksboro to split the cup dates and close the track down.340 million is outrageous,
Look at the economics.
Rockingham speedway; 1.1 mile oval, 80,000 seats, 0 cup dates 4.4 million.
NHIS; 1.04 mile oval, 90,000 seats, 2 cup dates, 340 billion.

Is that $2M what all the clubs combined generate in revenue? Does that include SCCA?brucesallen wrote:yeah, unless those southern Rubes can't see any need to bother with us locals for a piddling $2M gross a year.

Anyone watching the NASCAR prerace may have seen an interview w/ Bruton re the NHIS purchase. Kenny Wallace suggested that Bruton "tear down that mountain by the back straightaway" and also install some elevated ramps so fans can get to the parking lot more easily. Bruton agreed that would improve the track.
Fwiw, not sure what influence Louden has over the facility but they may be able to influence any proposed changes that cost the local community jobs or income. While the $2M may be a small amount for the track, I imagine the residual $ to Louden and neighboring towns is not.

Well, without T3 hill they can add more stands for fans to sit in... and means more revenue of course.boltonite wrote:Anyone watching the NASCAR prerace may have seen an interview w/ Bruton re the NHIS purchase. Oh well, there goes another track. It was fun while it lasted
Or, my favorite: Loop turn one into a new turn 2 leading through the tunnel, once around the parking lot and back through the tunnel. Let's hear it for the Tunnel!WillM wrote:New track records!!cuda6666 wrote:Why couldn't we just use the two straights and the two chicanes. We could still call the configuration Chicane/Chicane
It's insanity I tell you! Just plain insanity!

I feel that if they move a cup date out of NHIS it may help us. The track will have a lot more time available with out the extra track time for testing and practice that the Nascar guys want for each event.
Wow Sam what a track you could make that way. There is a 5 lane highway through the back parking lot that runs for well over a mile. I bet we could get a 4-5 mile track with out even using the currant up hill sections or even having to do any paving. Think of the speeds we could get, just put Jersey Barriers down the middle of the five lane for seperation.
