One of my friends from the Mazda3 forum took over 400 photos on Saturday. I don't think he missed many cars!! The Healey is in many of these. They are free to download. Enjoy. Steve, #236 and 237 show you getting through turn 3 in an interesting way!!

(Humor) Didn't you get the memo? It is the one with the TPS cover sheet. In 2008 COMSCC will be running NHIS clockwise and i was trying to get an edge on the other drivers by learning the lines.

(Humor) COMSCC has mandated, in an effort to ensure parity of the open wheel FP cars to the closed wheel street-legal variants, the flag staff at T3 will randomly throw down oil at T3 just before drivers of FP cars reach the end of 2b (so FP driver has no clue to the situation). This is in an effort so that FP drivers can demonstrate their ability to handle adverse situations and slow down their lap times. As such, FP drivers must drive over said oil slicks to improve their driving ability as it pertains to changing road surfaces if they ever want to get FTD trophy.


Seriously, it goes to show the only event my wife attended this year (and a mere 30 minutes at that) as my racing/tracking scares her big time, i have a nice little moment. That nice oil slick at T3 made life more exciting. She was actually amazed how i handled it. No worries, she promises she will still keep telling me how to drive on public roads when sitting in the passenger seat within my truck.

Note to self: buy wife a roll caged/harnessed Miata and let her join COMSCC events for 2008. Buy 2-way communication system, sit in passenger seat and tell her how to drive :) LOL

Pat, your dad's Healy came out really, really nice! That MAC paint works. I never would have thought it would be that nice after seeing its initial stages when I picked up the Lexan.

I think there are 7 pages of Sam's red speed 3 and 7 pages of my student's silver speed 3 in there. No pix of my CRX that I could see.

I want one of those speed 3's after being in one for a day!!!

Ahhh yes, captured on video for all to see. Any driver who has never spun at T3 is probably not trying hard enough. No harm done to your car and that is great news. Maybe we need to get COMSCC t-shirts made that say "Another Surviver Of NHIS T3 Spin."

i forget whose car it was, but their bottom end let go and spewed lots of oil at the turning point of T3. Think it took the track crew 20 minutes to clean up, it musta been pretty bad. They did a great job as the track was excellent for th remainder of the day.

With 4 red-flag incidents in one event (more than the whole year, and probably last year too combined), I'm not so sure commemorative t-shirts are a good idea... :oops:

Just glad that the only bruises were to sheet metal and egos. Carl did a fine job reeling everyone back in on the first day. :thumbleft:

Sam, as I mentioned yesterday, you are really movin' that speed3. Nice goin'! It is great to see those driven well at the track. :)

Agreed, and admit early on (years ago) in the tintop the Red Mist caught me... Am glad Carl did indeed reel things in.

Amen. FYI: have seen the same thing at SCCA events as at the LRP finals the Qualification 1 session there must have been 5 cars that went off. Can not claim innocence as Hoosier provided me some brand new formulation/type tires and it did not quite work out (even after precisely following their setup specs). This is why i had new rears (different from LRP) for COMSCC event that needed scrubbing in Saturday then used them for Sunday.

For those curious about hweel to wheel, no point-bys... Have a look at only 90 seconds of LRP NARRC finals Qualification 1 session to se what i mean about cars going off and, well... my situation http://www.enjoythetrack.com/video/lrp0907/snap.wmv

How are you feeling today after that hit? From what I heard from witnesses, that was a pretty nasty crash.

You know Stepan, I am thinking of retiring the Speed 3 after this year. But only if I can locate a manual tranny Mazda 3. Just think how one of those would do in SSC with race rubber!! :roll:

Absolutely! Rob (Ready) and I were : WOW! on street tires?!?!? :shock:
I'll be honest (and not the least embarassed) that I felt soo good on those 3 runs that I asked my car to teched. Then I remembered Mario Andretti once said somthing to the tune of "if you feel good about you are not driving fast enough" :oops:
But I did get one heck of an exercise by again driving holding 3rd gear in 6 turns...

Anaway, Congrats to TOM! =D>
As for next year, bring it on! I may go to ST-4 or SPC who knows... :dontknow:
Then again... I may not :wink:

+1 How are you feeling my friend? Hope all is well as you really had me very concerned and i ALMOST jumped out of my car to help you even though help was already on the way.

BTW, i have you on video for about 1/4 of a lap (down the main straight as you were passing someone) during the open track session if you want it.
