Re: Next year's schedule
I haven't run with COM since Tamworth 2017, but that has nothing to do with what I perceive to be an excellent club and instructor base to learn how to drive a car on a race track with. I know I haven't been around for a while, but I'd like to think that y previous years mean something. When I start...

Re: How did You hear about COM?
The first COM event I remember going to was when my dad co-drove a Porsche 911 with the car owner at Bryar in the early 80's. He eventually ended up driving for him in the Escort Endurance Challenge and the Firestone Firehawk series' shortly after that. I also have a couple of mug trophies from the ...

Re: Water & Methanol/Ethanol Inj - Question
I actually intentionally run all of my cars with functioning washer bottles and a small amount of washer fluid on track. I had one occasion on the first lap of an SCCA race several years ago where I had to go off track and through a mud puddle to avoid car that had spun in front of me, which covered...

Re: My return to COM after a (somewhat) long hiatus
Dean Clark stopped driving several years ago, but I have seen him and Cathy several times spectating at races that I was working at in various parts of the country. I think the last time I saw them was at the IMSA Watkins Glen 6-hour last year, and I have also seen them at Daytona and Laguna Seca. T...

Re: My return to COM after a (somewhat) long hiatus
Grove isn't involved with COM anymore, but he still does occasionally pop up on this board occasionally. I don't know if he's still running, but Frank Perron has run a couple of events in the last few years and posts here occasionally. Christopher Tier has occasionally run in the last couple of year...

Re: My return to COM after a (somewhat) long hiatus
It is funny that I stumble on this post. I have been away from COM for a long long time. Two kids and 17 years later. I am not sure I would recognize anyone if I was to go to an event. My story is similar just the time frame goes much further back. My last event with COM was at Bridgehampton in My ...

Re: Colbalt Racing Brake Pads
To add to this a bit, as a racing pad manufacturer, Cobalt is a highly reputable company, and there are several pro racing teams at least in the IMSA Continental Tire series and in World Challenge that are currently running them. If you want to try them out to see if they work for exactly what you a...

Re: Tudor series online
Mosport was completely repaved a few years ago, and there are several patches in places that are even newer. I didn't get to see the whole track, but there were definitely new patches in 8, 9, and 10. There is an issue in 10 though, much like the outside of 11 at NHMS, you do NOT want to go over the...

Re: Turn 3 NHMS, apex speeds, Corvette vs. Miata
If I remember correctly, it was a Mazdaspeed Miata that likely had a Spec Miata suspension kit on it. From what I found, the Spec Miata lap record there is in the 1:46 range.

Re: Anyone going to the Rolex 24 this year?
I think your misunderstanding what i'm saying ! racing is dangerous your not going to change that there will always be freak things that happen . again the same thing at LRP with the lotus . because one race has about the same yellows as they have in the past is not the point . it's the fact that t...

Re: Anyone going to the Rolex 24 this year?
very true about what nascar has don for other forms of racing . it has opened up peoples eyes to other forms . I am not talking about NASCAR's indirect awareness. I am talking about direct funding from NASCAR to promote Sports Car racing. The current IMSA, Grand-AM, the World Sports car series, the...

Re: Anyone going to the Rolex 24 this year?
Kevin, thanks for the insight. Now..... If I just hit a wall, blew a tire I would try to limp back to the pits as best as I can. I would assume that my speed is far slower with a blown tire and I am driving a crippled car and not sure the what condition I am in both physically and mentally. I also ...

Re: Anyone going to the Rolex 24 this year?
Short version: it levels the playing field for the non-overall leading classes. Long version: Suppose that the overall leader is lapping cars in a slower class, and comes up on a battle for the lead, with the first and second place cars in the slower class running nose to tail. Just after the overal...
