Insterest in dyno day on March 24th at our shop?

Post by agrabau » Mon Mar 05, 2007 1:13 pm

We just got a dyno here at our shop. Lately, we've been very busy building a cell and ventilation system for it. The other day I ran my Evo on it after work to do a power check and basically just run it for a while before the first event in April. I had the car in pieces over the winter and expected some issues, which soon arose in the form of boost leaks and water leaks that I didn't see until I loaded the car and laid into it a little bit.

These issues would have taken a day to sort out at the track, since I'm trailering the car there, I wouldn't have known of any problems until it was too late and it would have cost a whole day at NHIS. For that reason we wanted to offer a COM only dyno day for club members like us who want to give their race cars a checkover and put a few miles on the car before it hits the track. We are offering a discounted rate of $85 for 3 power pulls with boost (if needed) wideband AFR readout and hp/torque graphing.

This will at the very least let you know that your car is ready to run on the track, with safe AF ratios and no leaks or issues.

We thought that we'd do it if there was interest at or beyond 5 people.
We have a big parking lot that is suitable for those bringing cars on trailers. The dyno is AWD and handles both AWD and 2WD and can run steady state, holding load or road speed to create load on the car.

Make me #1, really interested in what the Mazdaspeed3 looks like on the dyno. I want to get a good baseline in order to judge effectiveness of future changes, (CAT back for one). Of course all data is confidential, right? SNICKER

You'd actually be #2! Very cool. Okay so far we have two. We don't have any immediate plans on posting anyone's dyno graphs, even anonymously with the names blurred. We treat them as their property. We may ask the owner's permission if we feel that the data somehow helps a greater good but it's not our policy to share pics/video/information of any type.

Would there be any time between pulls to make any changes, or would it just be three consecutive pulls? How much time per car do you think would be allowed?

Thanks,

Jadams, we'll work with you if you're trying to get some changes made. If you want we can set aside time at the end of the day, or perhaps make your run the last one and you can spend 30 mins on there if you need it. We're not going to nickel and dime anyone if they need an extra pull or two to get things right.

Pencil me in as a maybe, I hope to be able to make it. Right now motor is still apart, but I did pick up the reworked (again) heads today. Since I have a lot of practice putting the engine back together, I should be ready for March 24.
