Palmer Palmer Palmer

Post by xms651 » Tue May 26, 2015 11:41 pm

Hey guys & gals. If anyone has been to Palmer, could you post any info that might be helpful for others before prepping for the new track? I saw the thread on needing to get gas from stations in the area. Thanks in advance.

Looks like you need to bring EVERYTHING. Track is brand new so expect zero amenities. Provide air, fluids, fuel as well as a way of disposal of any fluids and/or trash. Food and fluids for yourself. Some kind of protection from the sun/elements for you and car would be good too. No electricity available yet. I believe there are a few porta-potties there but I don't know the exact number. From reading other posts it seems to be very dusty so extra air filter for the car and some kind of relief drops for your eyes might be good. This is my quickie check list hope it helps! :)

this is not a big deal. At other tracks where we do not get garages or power (such as Montremblant) it was not much different except without dust.
I already have a doormat to wipe my feet on before going into trailer since I camp on the floor (already got that idea previously from camping at WGI and other places where you track wet grass and mud inside when it is raining). mostly needed if raining.

I am going to look for a dust cover for my car airfilter (cone shaped). possibly at hardware store a re-usable vacuum bag would work. this way I can keep most of the dust off my filter and not have to clean it as soon.

John, Rebecca: Thanks for the info and suggestions. I'm going to see if I can throw together some kinda pre-filter on the intake. Great idea.

Palmer track stickers

Post by xms651 » Fri May 29, 2015 11:00 am

Thanks Jeff. Good to know.

By the way everyone, when I was printing my car stickers for Palmer, I made a bunch of extra Palmer track shape stickers for those who are collecting. If anyone wants one, just ask me at the track. I made a few dozen. First come, first serve.

Sunoco race fuel (93, 100, 110leaded) sold in 5-gal cans at Como's Auto, located down the hill on Rt 67.

Tire service also at Como's.

Diesel and gas at XtraMart in Warren, ~3miles on Rt 67N.

Box lunch provided by Maw's Kitchen, ~$10.

For nearby hotels: Copper Lattern in West Brookfield, Sturbridge Host Hotel (both ~$79 if you mention PMP).

We will be metering sound on track and in the paddock to verify suspect cars, an open exhaust will likely fail.

Track has no curbing (yet) but the grip is good, pls don't drop wheels and mess up the newly seeded aprons.

Fred,
What's the eta on the curbing?

It's been too long man! We'll catch up Saturday.

Does anyone have the full GPS coordinates at start finish for the loggers?

According to the track map on Harry's Lap Timer, its:
42º 14.097' N
72º 14.764' W

Thanks Mike, those numbers don't look quite right though… that's about 20 min from the track address if I'm copying it correctly to googlemaps.

And it would be nice to get one more digit…

AIM guys?

I got this straight from Freddy yesterday:

42.23531334,-72.24570518

I put the coordinates into GPSManager and it looks good. I've submitted the track map and coordinates to AiM for including in their master database.

If anyone has an AiM system and wants a file to import into GPSManager, you can get mine from:

That's pretty much what I have in my AIM, which I set manually at the start/finish.
