What Class?

I just finished filling out the class sheet. I ended up with 124 points for a d16z6 turbo in my 93 civic. Based on classing and power to weight I ended up with Super A. Does this sound right? Also, I have track experience on a motorcycle with LRRS. Would I be able to run solo?

Whether or not you run solo has more to do with your driving experience than your car/setup, but having a properly prepped car is tablestakes. With COMSCC, all new members, regardless of prior experience, are required to perform a check-ride with an instructor before being signed-off. Whether or not you get signed-off depends on prior experience and the instructor's assessment.

Just a some friendly advice from a former LRRS (8 yrs) racer who has been driving with COM off and on for the past few years. If this is the first time on the track in a car you will want all the instruction you can get - besides the fact that you will be required to have an instructor in the car with you based on the rules - the car is a very different experience than the bike around NHMS. Everything you thought you knew about the proper "line" and braking points will be different. You can put the car in places that would likely cause you to crash on a bike (inside the rumble strips in turn 3), not to mention the actual track layout is different for a car (the turn 11 to 12 complex). I have had multiple instructors over the years, all have been great and each one has helped me improve my driving. That is one of the biggest benefits of driving with COM. Superior instruction that results in constant improvement of your driving skills. Can you imagine if you had Eric Wood or Jeff Wood talking into your helmet as you did laps around NHMS on a bike, pointing out the best options for the proper line, braking points and when to get on the throttle. Think of how that would reduce your learning curve and lap times. That is essentially what you have with a COM instructor in the right side seat. Enjoy your experience and welcome to the club!
