I'm looking for a hard top for my 97 Miata at a fair price. I prefer black, but I can paint it.

FYI: a top from the NB will fit too. They're interchangeable. Get an aftermarket bracket/bolt kit if you plan to track it, as the factory mounting system is shady and you don't want to lose your $900 hardtop at speed.

I'm pretty sure a red hard top is mandatory.

I seem to remember seeing pink with bubbles a short time ago.

Well if you don't mind one with a broken window and needing some minor bodywork, I got one for $225. Its just been sitting on my parts car keeping water out.

yeah, it's still pink, but the bubbles have been popped...
Also, there's been one on craigslist that of course I can't find now..

I don't know if he can pass the entrance requirements for the red-head club....

The red head club sounds like something I might be interested in. But let's focus on cars right now.
I ended up with a red top. Obviously, it needs paint.
Any ideas for glass replacement for those tops? I tried Safelite, Portland Glass, and something like Night Watchman of Indiana. They don't have it.

Hi Shawn,
I believe these are the parts you need. This is the best I could determine from the online parts diagram. There are are 3 parts:
1 inner gasket (they call it a 'DAM' in the catalog but 'DUM' in the diagram)
1 Back glass
1 outer moulding
According to MazdaComp, the parts are in stock:
PART NUMBER SHIPPING PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION QTY ORDERD QTY SHIPPING
NB40-63-931D NB40-63-931D GLASS,BACK WINDOW 1 1
NAY1-63-930 NAY1-63-930 RR WINDOW MOULD 1 1
NA01-63-895 NA01-63-895A DAM,REAR-WIND. 1 1
At one point I think the MazdaComp agreement included some verbiage about not disclosing prices of parts, but I think I can tell you that the MazdaComp total racer's price is under $350 versus the dealer/retail price of almost $600.
If you have not registered for a MazdaCompetition account, visit:
www.mazdamotorsports.com
They accept COM results, we are on their club drop-down list as are all of our classes. They'll want copies of 2 recent TT results.
It is possible that the parts are actually not in stock, but if the website says they are available, they usually are (in my experience at least).
Since I've helped you, you are officially forbidden from changing its color from black to red !

Thanks. As long as you don't look too close.
The "officially forbidden" thing seems to just make it more tempting. Thanks for the info Will. I'll try to get that account set up again. That sounds like a good price for something like that from a dealer.
