WGI September 12 -13, 2011
WGI September 12 -13, 2011
Howdy! This is where the announcements are to be made concerning Watkins Glen.
1. Please be sure to send a list of guests that will be attending the event to comregistrar@comcast.net. If not on the list, which will be at the gate, your friends and family will not be allowed entry. No penalty if you list someone and they don't show.
2. The track gates will be open at 600PM on Sunday, Sept 11.
3. Registration and garage rentals will take place in the main garage 600 - 800PM on Sunday. Do not occupy a garage unless you have had it assigned to you. Help will be there to assist those who did not sign up for a garage at the registration site. Registration will also be held on Monday and Tuesday 700AM to 800AM. Check your event schedules after registering for track .
4. Tech inspection will take place on the back side of the garage area (opposite side from the gas pumps) from 700AM to 800AM, both days. Have your tech sheets and helmets ready.
5. Camping will be allowed in designated areas. Please see me at the track for directions to the designated areas. Electricity hook ups are limited to the ability of Dan Darcy to so provide! There are no water/sewer hookups, so bring you own - water that is!
6. Lunch will be provided by the track caterer both days. It will consist of a full luncheon (sandwich bread and rolls, meat, cheeses, salads, deserts and beverages). The price is $10.00 for ALL YOU CAN EAT, in the comfortable lounge (flat screen TV's, view of the track, etc.) of the new media center. One restriction: You cannot bring your own food to the media center lounge! This is now confirmed! WE NEED A MIN OF 35 PEOPLE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE RESTAURANT OPEN ON THE SECOND DAY. EAT UP FOLKS!
7. You and your guests will be allowed to view the track from any of the standard viewing areas. Vehicles must be kept on paved travel areas, no cross country excursions.
Again, "from standard viewing areas" means you do not climb over fences or walls to get close to the track. In the past, guilty parties have been escorted from the track.
8. If you are staying in Watkins Glen over Wednesday night and need a place to park your trailer, see me and I will tell you where that will be allowed.
9. We have requested that the gas pumps be open. There is 112 octane leaded and 110 octane unleaded.
10. Volunteers to assist in traffic control to and from the track (announce run groups and release to pit out when notified) will be needed. For new persons, this is a good way to take part in the event operations and become an important part of your club!
11. There will be a trackside BBQ on Monday night.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE NEWS!

The gas stations in town have it. It's a 10 minute drive.

Keep checking with the web site below to ascertain best travel route(s) to The Glen. Many roads flooded on most of the routes.

Not sure if this link will work- it's Montour Falls ( that high waterfall a couple miles South of the Glen) yesterday. Looks like Niagara Falls....

Rooms and breakfast is ok but drop your trailer at the glen first (or park near Rt14), their driveway is tight. Plenty of room for you dog to run and poop.

Re: WGI September 12 -13, 2011
Is anyone from the NYC/NJ/CT area heading up to WGI for the COM event? I have to unfortunately bag out since I wrecked at NJMP's NARRC SCCA race on Thunderbolt. I was running 1.35.5's and heading into P1 when .... oops I went wide and eventually ate the tire wall on the back straight away. Anyways, I need to get a set of rims to Mark Swinehart. Anyone? Anyone?

Carl, thanks - let me know where in CT and when you plan on leaving.
Also, for anyone coming through PA or NY Southern Tier... check online first if your route is open. We know for sure that many parts of I-88/81/86 (NYS 17) are simply flooded and can only be navigated by a ferry boat.
