SSU Air Filter Rules

Post by cgrumbling » Sat Jun 06, 2009 10:39 am

When I bought my 2004 Corvette Z06 last year, it had a K&N air filter installed. As far as I know, this is the only item on the vehicle which is not from GM's factory. Since the rules state that "Any make oil, air, and/or fuel filter elements are allowed" for a Showroom Stock vehicle, I figured I was still clear for the SSU class.

I was just doing some preparation to go clean the air filter with the K&N Care Service Kit. The instructions say I should check K&N's site for filter installation instructions, so I got onto the site... and then I found out that K&N offers two filters for the vehicle: one which is just the element, and one which is a different shape and replaces a part of the intake. Mine is the latter. When I bought the vehicle (from a dealership), I was not given the old intake part(s). I never knew until a few minutes ago that it looked different than the stock one. Departure for Mont Tremblant is tomorrow.

Am I in trouble? What should I do? Am I out of the SSU class? Images are included below:

You're not in trouble, you're in STGT.
