Clutch recomendations for turbo Miata
I am replacing the clutch disc/pressure plate in my '04 Miata and am wondering what has held up well for people. The car will be making in the 240wtq range so stock is out.I have had good luck with Centerforce but they don't do Miata, and have been eyeballing the ACT stage 3 which they OK for about 290tq. The car will be mostly track driven so smooth, quiet etc is not a concern.Looking for long-ish life and durability mostly.I will be using a Fidanza flywheel and running it in PB,so no restrictions there
Thanks!

Re: Clutch recomendations for turbo Miata
ACT is really the only clutch for your set up. They grab close to the floor but get better over time. Adjust the master till it's just out of play, no more. They make a CF but it wouldn't last.

Re: Clutch recomendations for turbo Miata
Les..last week,Flyin-Miata sent me a Taiwan flywheel,an ACT street organic clutch disc, some sort of purple no-name pressure plate and told me the stuff was the best available. I like the guys there a lot,but they really missed the boat on that stuff,in my opinion. They told me they run it in their cars...and have sold a bunch of them...but I'm not buying it,literally.
All on it's way back to Colorado..For less money,I am getting a Fidanza SFI rated (made in the USA) flywheel, and an ACT SFI rated stage 3 clutch and disc setup. It was UPS that screwed up my week. They could not find my 120lb box of parts...but it was NOT lost. It was somewhere...
Jake..my little Miata will never make enough HP for stage 5
at least not with the 4 holer...

240 lb ft torque at the wheels? What are you running, a 110 shot of NO2?

Re: Clutch recomendations for turbo Miata
No,Flyin-Miatas FMII turbo kit with a Garrett 2560r turbo,550cc injectors,3" exh, and Hydra 2.6 ECU. They dyno installs on the same car at 240-270wtq all the time with the same setup,so I am being conservative.
Link to the dyno chart. This is the same car I have and same kit..http://flyinmiata.com/tech/dyno_runs/MS ... octane.pdf
