The Cobra Lives!
The Cobra Lives!
Woo hoo!!
An exhaustive decontamination effort appears to have have been successful in ridding my FFR Cobra of the nasty toxin that forced me to park it after the '05 season.
Working at Michael Fridmann's shop last week, my nephew Amos Hine (Nate's son) helped me completely strip the interior, including carpets, seats, belts, and heater. We tossed the decals, tool kit, and everything else not essential to operating the car.
Then we bolted the bare metal driver's seat back in and took it to Details, Etc. in Wellesley, MA, where we put the car up on jacks and removed everything we could (wheels, dash, transmission tunnel cover, and more) so the detail shop could pressure wash and scrub every square inch of it, inside and out.
They did a fantastic job! When I walked up to it, I was stunned. It looked like a new car (except, of course, for a few nicks and dings here and there)!
Yesterday Amos and I worked on the car for several hours, reassembling what was left, and I drove it for over an hour on the way home. No toxic symptoms at all.
I'm planning to be at Mont Tremblant with it. It probably won't have a passenger seat (so those of you to whom I owe a ride and/or drive may have to wait a bit) and the tires will probably be the old and hard Kumhos I smoked at Mont Tremblant in 2005, but the Cobra will be there!!
Wooo hoo!
Thank you so much to all the people who encouraged me - and especially those who shared their cars with me - over the past 18 months!

That's great news Alison.
You took me for a ride in your Cobra on my first track day and I've been hooked ever since. I had to borrow Nate's fire suit for the ride. It wouldn't fit over my pants, so I had to strip down to my tighty-whities in the paddock to put it on. Well worth the embarrassment.
I don't know the back story. Why did it need to be decontaminated of a nasty toxin?
