I built a small front porch on my house and I used mahogany for the project. Due to the costs, it took me a few months to get it done. At the end of the project, the salesman I usually dealt with said, "have you added up all those invoices yet?" and I said "Hell No".DanDarcy wrote:I love WGI, I hope to do more than one event there this year, but to do a 3 day event would be too expensive for me at one time.
Fuel $450- (both car and tow vehicle)
Tolls $45-
Tires $1200- (Hoosiers R6 275/35-18)
Brakes $165-
Entry $700- ?
Wine $80-
Food $200-
WGI Camp fee $50-
Oil $50-
Misc. $100-
That comes up to over $3,000- for one event ! I voted for the two days. Plus the club loses mony on every away event, why do we want to lose more money ? Lets try harder to get another NHIS (NHMS) events and make some money. Once the club has built up some money reserves than we can experiment with away 3 day events.
Point is....Dan what the heck are you doing? I prefer to bury my head in the sand, get to the track and plant my right foot to the floor.

Dan, we're trying to get more people to come to the track, we don't need guys like you pointing out how expensive it is!

racer math
Apparently you guys don't know about Racer Math. Racer Math states that "The cost of an event is equal to the registration fee for the event." You are not supposed to include other "incidentals", such as those Dan listed. That just makes the accounting more complicated and risks adding dischord to the racer/spouse relationship.

I'm Sorry I won't mention cost again except enterance fees.
I made the same mistake many years ago with a plane I owned. I had owned it for many years, than one day I decided to add up how much it cost me for the year (hanger, anual, fuel, insurance, etc.) than devide it by the number of hours I flew ---- I said holy cow It was over $1000/hour, I sold the plane less than a month later. I still miss it 16 years later, The plane I have now is nowhere as nice or fast as that one was . I won't mention costs again

No worries, did the same thing with the red Italian car. One day i decided to add up some of the receipts... sold the car shortly thereafter. Besides, i knew the market was ripe for selling and to hurry up before the recession set in.DanDarcy wrote:I made the same mistake many years ago with a plane I owned. Then again i already had the Formula 2000 so selling the much slower street car was an easy decision.

When can we expect a decision to be made? If some people have to change vacation schedules, we need to do it asap.

That is a very good and fair question!
A decision will be made ASAP.
The opportunity came up a week ago Friday.
We responded on Monday, and were told that the track scheduling office is on vacation until Feb 18 or 19.
Alex started this poll on the same day.
The response hasn't exactly been a land-slide for the 3-day, so we may not wait until next week.
Whatever the outcome, we'll post an update and send out an email ASAP.
