Did you take any pictures? I have yet to see any official or unofficial updates on the progress since everyone checked it out last October.breakaway500 wrote:Took a hike on the track today..it survived the winter blemish free and lots of progress on barricades. The access road is a thing of beauty and power is getting close. What a playground for car enthusiast this is going to be!! Hats off to Fast Freddy for making this a reality!

Re: Palmer
^Yes,I did take photos..but was hesitant to post them without permission. I know there are a few..dissidents out there just looking for anything they can use against the track opening..and I won't do anything that may help them in their foolishness. Progress is being made. The paddock is still rough, but they are working on it. Lots of equipment. I have a hard time taking my eyes off that black strip winding up the hill...or thinking about it days/weeks/months after..

Re: Palmer
Well there is a "plan" to have a soft opening with SCCA in 4+ weeks like was done with Thompson. Fred's got a good team working there and I'm sure will pull it off. If I have to paddock on the entry road I will. I can't wait to run there. It'll be like Christmas. I just hope Fred has hair left after this project.
Re: Palmer
The track looks awesome from the air. Took some photos today. Will reach out to Fred first. stay tuned. Particularly interesting to see the landscape before the leaves come out.

There are a lot of 180 turns on that track, does anyone think it will be less interesting because of that?

Re: Palmer
Straightaways are lots of fun..but if that's all you need..there is always drag racing. Seriously, the way these "180s" are laid out, they are much more than interesting..

Re: Palmer
I normally would agree, tracks that wind in on themselves to increase length while using the least acreage possible often feel too tight, but the way Palmer is laid out I didn't feel that way about it at all. The turnarounds have good camber and I think this track is going to have great flow.horizenjob wrote:There are a lot of 180 turns on that track, does anyone think it will be less interesting because of that?

Re: Palmer
most people complained about that with Thompson to many 180's .
I will see how I like at the end of this week as I'm going to palmer then .

Re: Palmer
I am not concerned about this but i like Thompson.

Turns 2-4 are FAST. Like Mosport/Watkins/Tremblant fast. Also many of the 180 degrees have the added complexity of elevation changes which makes them quite interesting.

It's the Disney Matterhorn ride on wheels....that's how it felt last November in my MSM. First time I've driven that fast with no helmet (and top down) in many years. With all the safety gear in place..it should be really interesting.

It's a Palmer day. go to their Web site. It could be that you must be a member ($50) to then register on the Upcoming Events page. Software looks vaguely familiar!
