Interesting Bert. 260 deg plus oil temp on a 72 deg day. Does it runner hotter as air temps rise (say 90 deg)? I kinda worry when the Speed 3 sees 260 - 270.

Saw 320 once -- that's where the GM engineers figure they ought to post a message to the dash board to tell you to knock it off. After that I installed a racing radiator with twice the cooling capacity with an integrated engine oil cooler. Now the most I see is 280 even on the hottest days. Thank goodness for synthetic oils.

No, the steering is a traditional hydraulic rack.

The new Infiniti Q50 has steer by wire (no steering column at all), and frankly that just gives me the willies thinking about the potential problems.

Every car with "Active Handling" or "StabiliTrak" or other version of government mandated electronic safety shit has a steering angle sensor to guess which direction the driver wants the car to go when the car gets sideways. Some manufacturers make this reading available on the OBDII, some don't.

Thanks, I was try to wrap myself around why the ECU would be interested in steering angle info (other than electric steering which also scares the hell out of me!)
