Ok, Ok, it was 2:35! and only 130 mph top speed. My lamborghini student claimed 170 mph top speed but the the speedo did not indicate that.

Go Pro Wide camera was fine. It seems this new stupid Adobe Premier video editor I bought does the jerkies and the audio and video are not synched. And then YouTube reduces the video quality.

i had a lot of trouble editing my go pro vid with corel videostudio - i had to separate the audio track and the video track and then mix them together. i also was disappointed with how low Q youtube renders vids.

i ended up going with a huge file size - and the sky looks super-trippy:

FYI: Vimeo has much better quality than YouTube. COM has a Group set up that you can join and add videos to.

We also have a channel set up which you can subscribe to

Bruce and other COM Fellini-types,

I am familiar with Mac and PC based video editing equipment and software. I used to be much more involved with the technology, but am now reduced to using consumer stuff. Working with compressed video clips, especially ones shot in HD, can be extremely frustrating and time consuming.

I do not know how the newer versions of Premiere or any of the Apple products handle H.264 video, but the past versions I used were not great and required re-processing. The re-processing dropped quality, increased file size, and took an eternity to complete.

I do not have a Go-Pro camera, but for editing the H.264 video captured from my Aiptek camcorder, I found that Magix Movie Edit Pro is fast, easy to use, and a bargain:

I downloaded version 15 pro plus last year as a free 30-day trial. Next time I have a video to edit, I'll buy the latest version ( version 16 pro plus).

Pro: $50
Pro Plus: $90 (multi-camera and other additional features)

Will, what do you use for data acquisition and how do you overlay it on the video?

I have a Race-Technology DL-1 (and use their "Dash 3" in-car display). http://www.race-technology.com

For video overlay, I use TrackVision: http://www.trackvision.net

TrackVision works with any datalogger and/or ECU that can export a CSV file, which includes all of the big and small names. They have a plug-in version to work with Motec and RacePak.

I actually bought into TrackVision a couple of years ago, but the software proved to be impossible to use with HD video shot on solid-state camcorders. The software was originally based on using a 8mm camera and converting the footage to Windows Media or DivX (remember DivX? LOL!). That said, there was a big software release last year, which added many new features, including native support for all sorts of HD and digital video, H.264 being the biggest attraction.

Works great now.

As for the DL-1, it rocks. The software is amazing. There are other options available, and I think RacePak or AIM would be my 2nd & 3rd choice. RacePak for being around the same price (if not a hair cheaper) and seeming a little easier to add sensors & components to. AIM for also being a little easier to add sensors and components, being more expandable, AND still having very good software, but freakin' expensive.

I tried Magix, but I'll be damned if I could figure out how to properly use it.

Thanks. Until I recently bought a new PC with VIsta I was using the free-with-XP Microsoft Moviemaker with good results. Not a lot of features but fine for me.
GoPro-Hero-wide stores in .avi. Why do you like H.264? that was developed for video conferencing. I was on the CCITT committee. (I was also there when they discovered electricity)
