Make sure Tom Cannon understands your rule request. Maybe send him an e-mail.

A window net drops down, does a rally window pop out to access the driver if needed?jlwhorf wrote:You should submit a rules change. The window net and rally window basically do the same thing, keep large objects out and arms in.
We run with windows down for a reason.
IMO the lexan windows (if permanently installed) are illegal.

Re: Super class mock TT at WGI
good god i hope your not thinking of removing a driver thru a side doors window .
rally does it along with the ALMS cars for good reasons .
it's safer than a window net ! there is a opening to talk to the driver .
small projectiles can still come thru a window net . a nug bolt came thru my net in a 944 spec race and hit my arm .
window nets drop down because they should be mounted to the roll cage and not the door . so if you mount a net to the cage as it should be and you can not remove the net in any way how could you even get in and out of the car even with the door open ?
a net also has to drop down because if they flip up then they could also fall back down trapping the driver in the car if he has to get out quickly .
so when the FIA and ALMS say no more nets you have to use lexan it's not because it's unsafe they are doing it to keep the driver safer .
then there are cars like my diasio where there is just no way to put a net in the car because of the shape of the roof and cage . so if i had to wear arm restraints you could not see my arms for a point by as there is no back window and the shape of the cars body you just would never see my arms .

Re: Super class mock TT at WGI
COMSCC'ers - after another great season, we have the final "data" on the Super Class proposal. As promised (better late than never), here are the mock Super Class results from Watkins Glen. Because of the large percentage of potential Super Class drivers who registered but didn't TT, I also included the best times from the RFID for those drivers, if available (times were sent in an email from Bill H. to all WGI participants about 4 weeks ago) - these drivers are grayed out. Some classes were estimated, so let me know if I put you in the wrong class, and I would be happy to update the spreadsheet.
Just for fun, we had a decent turnout at the latest New Hampshire-3 event, so I took a shot at estimating the classing (if I didn't have it already) for potential Super Class entrants. I used best TT time only (RFID times were not included). Again, let me know if I got your class wrong, and I can adjust it in the spreadsheet:
Finally, here is the latest 2014 Super Class Rules Proposal text. We received some good feedback at Watkins Glen, specifically 2 good suggestions. The first suggestion was around adding more specific adjusters for factors like tires and aero - after considering this we decided to keep the classification limited to just horsepower, torque, and weight for simplicity, noting that the Touring Classes account for these items and many cars could squeeze into T100 or lower. However, we did incorporate a suggestion to lower the multiplier for the alternate power calculation; this was lowered from 85 "Power" / 1L down to 80 "Power" / 1L - other factors, including revs, valves, and forced induction remain unchanged.

So what's next? Take a look at the results from both Watkins Glen and NH3, review the latest Super Class Proposal, and let your favorite Board of Directors member(s) know what you think - we will likely be discussing the proposal, evaluating its merits against the existing Prepared/Street Prepared classes, and determining a path forward. The next BOD meeting is a week from today (members are always encouraged to attend on October 23rd at Max & Dylans in Bellerica).
