What Nick meant is that if he's running 7.5 front and 8.5 rear, even with the same tire size on both axles, he wouldn't want to run the 7.5 rims in the rear. So he can't rotate the tires front to back unless he goes with 7.5 all around.
Dum question on tires sizes and rims

Read the Showroom Stock rules again. The only wheels those cars can use is the 8 1/2 in rear and 7 1/2 in front.
IX.3. Wheels and Tires
1. Any type wheel may be used provided wheel size (width and diameter) remain stock for the axle on which they are mounted,
except.
a. Cars delivered with 12 inch wheels may use aftermarket 13 inch wheels with a maximum width of 5 inches that fit
within stock fenders.
b. Cars delivered with wheels greater than 17 inches in diameter may use wheels that are 17 inches or greater in diameter,
provided they are not larger than the stock diameter and width for the axle on which they are mounted.
From the comments I see on this thread, It APPEARS that many SS Bimmers are not legal for the class. I.E. they must run 7 1/2 front and 8 1/2 rear.

Re: Dum question on tires sizes and rims
Errr. Sam: I am actually UNDERclassed using 7 1/2 all around and still in compliance with the rules... and according to those who tech'd the car AND conferred with at Mosport, the Sports Package of this model BMW is the one that has, as an accessory, the optional 8 1/2 in rear. My car is a 2001 BMW 330i ... the accessory "package" is "Sport". So either way I comply in SSB. I'd like to lead by example and stay clean always.chaos4NH wrote:Read the Showroom Stock rules again. But my real question was not this (as I had already confirm it) but rather "would my stock tires in rear (245s) fit in a 7 1/2 wheel and not have any issues. The end conclusion was that it was borderline "OK" plus having an equal selt of 7 1/2 with trial tires was a better set up for rotation, etc. (Thank's Nick x2).

Re: Dum question on tires sizes and rims
No problem Stephan. From reading your question, and the resulting answers, it APPEARED that the standard wheel size for your car was 8 1/2. Was the 7 1/2 rear wheel available on the M3s? just asking.

I believe so because this set I have with the TT tires on came from an older model M3 that I got from Chuck (COM member).chaos4NH wrote: Was the 7 1/2 rear wheel available on the M3s? just asking.
I don't know much about these U-boats ... other than being reasonably stable, balanced, heavy and with electronic controls that I need to remind myself to turn them off.
I consult with other BMW owners often and I am grateful for their input.
Ask me anything about Alfa's and you can't shut me up.
Ask me about Miaaaa---- (can't say the word ..still!) and I'll ... never mind!

If the track wheels you're referring to are the Motorsport wheels, they are from an E36 M3, not an E46.
