Advice on Miata rollbars
Re: Advice on Miata rollbars
I really like the bar mark has as well. I'll chime in with this and say I also considerthe hard dog bars tested, maybe not per SCCA guidelines:

You know you're hooked bad when you have 5 sets of wheels and tires..for one car..
baah..that Miata rolled over in a pile of feathers... Or, maybe all that weight waaaay up there helped the car to roll over ... (I know the HD's are tough..)
That flip in the vid is nasty! An amazing look at the forces involved.

Haydn: I actually did 6-7 autocross events last year so i wouldn't say that i jumped directly into the deep end with both feet ... but i know what you mean Actually I was recovering quite well until the Audi winter driving school last weekend... that sent me spiralling down the rabbit hole again Skidding around in the snow/ice just gave me a taste of much fun I had driving last season... ... and gee thanks for putting the idea of a truck & trailer in my head... it's not like i don't live in a tiny closet apartment as it is to fuel my driving habits....
Paul, Les & Mark: LOL, that's actually my main concern. I just need the rollbar to do its job so I'm definitely keen on getting something good but I'm not that keen on spending extra for the looks... And don't worry Mark, if $$ wasn't an issue, I'm sure that it won't take long for me to 'justify' 5 sets of tires too.

You don't really notice all the rims/tires till one day, there is no room for the car...just stacks of tires and wheels..

Re: Advice on Miata rollbars
Hey gang! Let me piggyback onto this thread. I was pointed here from the Miata forum.
I'm the happy new owner of an '06 Miata. I was very much looking forward to running a few HPDE days with the car this summer. It's been a few years since I did HPDE, and many years since I ran a convertible in HPDE. Didn't realize that the NC's hoops won't suffice.
What bar would you recommend for the NC? I only plan to run 3-4 events in a year, as budget won't allow more. So I want the least expensive option that will safely get me on the track. Also, which one requires the least modifications to the interior? I'd like one that can be pulled back out of the car down the road if I ever sell the car. Thanks.

Re: Advice on Miata rollbars
I did, a while back. I've been through a whole host of cars since I got rid of the FFR. One of these days, I'll go back to it. In fact, my first HPDE days were in the Cobra. It didn't have a bar, just hoops. So I'm new to neededing a bar on my Miata.John F wrote:Don't you have a Cobra?

Welcome Klayfish!
Look here for NC bars

They aren't cheap but Brian has pretty much all the bars available for NC. He also sells lots of other goodies you might like, probably more than any other site I have seen.

Hello Klayfish!
I think Gordon hit the nail on the head. As far as I know, the AWR rollbar (sold by Good-Win-Racing) is the only game in town for NC Miatas. There are a few NC Miatas in the club with them.
Cheers,
Will
