You may also want to remove the rubber seal at the back of your hood. You can also try securing the hood with longer bolts and washers to increase the airflow out of the engine bay.

I usually pull that seal out. I like your idea about using spacers to prop the back of the hood up a little.

Sort of on-topic: Redline Water Wetter versus the Royal Purple coolant additive? Is there a preference? The Redline is obviously easier to get (Autozone) so I'm guessing that most have experience with that...
