Apparently someone with a lot of money! The rollcage that was in that car, cost more than my entire car, and all three of the engines that I went through!

John, that factory rev limiter can be removed- if your motor needs to pull higher than that.

I definitely didn't mean to overlook you, Jim, in my SPA overview. I know that twin turbo can be a contenda at a track like WGI.

Do we know what Greg is driving now- or has he come to his senses and moved on to another hobby?

No thanks, the motor has survived a lot of abuse with credit given to keeping the revs down. I was actually thinking of getting an MSD box so the spark was what did the limiting instead of the crazy way Ford does it with turning off the injector pulse. Besides, I would have to learn to use a Tweecer to get rid of the current limiter.

As an aside, the GT40 intake work terrific with a blower

Sounds like a deal, that is probably half of what he of what he has spent on it.

SPA Wars

Post by mario a » Sun Apr 06, 2008 8:53 pm

Ha Scott, i am dynoing the Porsche next Friday. Speeking of sandbagging, i have some real oil consumption issues going on! Trying to keep up with James last year has probably taken it's toll. Last year my car did about 295 RHP @6000 and 270 RWT. Not bad for a 4 banger ha? The dyno guy said you lose about 15% after the crank. As you know, the driver makes alot of diff. My big problem is the bigger turbo i put on. It doen't kick in till about 3000 rpm. NHMS is a nightmare for me. Watch out for Brian S. He had the mustang suspension done at a speed shop down south. Some guy Craig knows bought Greg Reeds car and will be joining us this year. I heard he had it detuned, whatever that means. Looking forward to seeing all you guys at the Glen. Except you of coarse. (: Just kidding!

Back when I was doing taekwondo, and breaking stupid boards, they'd always tell me to aim for a few inches behind the board. If the board breaks, less damage to your foot/hand.

Therefore, my goal is to have enough horsepower to go THROUGH the wall next time, thus incurring less damage.

Great to hear you'll be at the Glen- Mario! Your turbo is just spooling up when my V8 is starting to gasp for air...talk about different ways for making power. I also keep hearing about Brian's 'Stang with the new Griggs supension- should be interesting.
Detuning Greg's old car probably means taking out the lexan windows and running in SPA. The more the merrier!

Nice to have you back in circulation Mario!

Scott's been nice enough to let me drive his car at the Glen while mine is laid up. Based on this arms race shaping up in SPA, it may be the only time I'm in it all year
