Do you plan on tracking it at all? Lemme know if/when. I took my SV to NHIS for my first bike track day last year. What a hoot! I passed about a gazillion Ducati's (incl. a 999R) in the beginner group. Helps to know the way around the track:)

I got the 650R because it's in many ways a much nicer daily bike. It fit me better. The SV650 put me more on my toes than the 650R. It offers full fairings for those rare occasions when I dare to exceed the speed limit. It's fuel injected - no carbs to mess with (not sure if the SV is as well). It's a better daily bike for me, even though at 10/10th's it is likely slower than the SV.

Understood. The 650R sounds like the way to go for your wants/needs. The '03+ SV's are fuel injected, but I consider that a downside. From what I can tell, there really haven't been any mileage or power benefits from FI on bikes. My carbed '01 SV "carburets" as well as my injected Aprilia Tuono, and mixture changes are only $10 worth of jets away with carbs (vs. ~$300+ worth of chip or PowerCommander with FI). Unmodded, the carbs never really need adjustment or "messing with".It's fuel injected - no carbs to mess with (not sure if the SV is as well).

Both bikes suffer from bargain-basement suspension components. I put "cartridge emulators" in my SV's damper-rod forks, along with stiffer springs and heavier fork oil. Helped tremendously, but too much high-speed damping, too little low-speed damping (nature of damper-rod forks). If you get tired of the front end pogoing up-and-down under accel/decel, you might try the emulators (from RaceTech) and heavier fork oil, and maybe stiffer springs.

Hey this sounds like FUN!!! We get Raj on his bike, Dan B on his bike and I could bring a GSXR1000 We could go out durring the lunch break. I haven't been on a race track with a bike since 1968, I might be a bit rusty, but back in the 60's we had open track days at Lime Rock for bikes plus a race or two there. Just one problem-- I don't thing my old leathers will fit me anymore

Hi Scott -- Eric was our district area service manager for Suzuki. He had the job for several years. He used to show me pictures of his 914 race car with the police paint job plus he always talked about buying a Porsche built Mercedes sedan I have (93 500e) but never did. I liked Eric , my dealership won the Suzuki Super Service award from him. I don't know if he is still racing, he now works as a service manager for a Honda -Suzuki dealer down near where he lives in Southeastern Mass. There is room for some trailers at the Iron Masters. Hopefully they can accomodate us all! Parking lot is not huge, but COM members usually find places to keep the trailer for one night.
I'd suggest anyone wanting to run LRP with COM, or even most other clubs, get your fill in this year. The track is not making things easy, unless, of course, you spring to be one of their $100,000 'elite' members. :protest: [-(

iron masters & trailer parking

If you are pulling a 2-car trailer I would definitely turn right when you pull in and get to the end of the driveway. The parking lot extends all around the building and their is ample parking in back and on the right side of the building but the lot can be tight if there are cars and trailers already parked in the lot. I've parked my trailer (lengthwise) in back w/o problems. Most tow vehicles will park nose-to-tail in back or on the side of the building.
I think there is a secondary (dirt) drive that leads straight up along the right side of the property that may be accessible for parking.
