Pretty clear cut: Intake manifold change = SP

DOH! Apparently I am a flagrant rule breaker.
If I had to, it takes about 15 minutes to swap the intake back on (as opposed to adding a roll bar). I never even really thought about it when classing the car becasue its a stock LS1 part. My point is that a lot of the "rules" compliance is going to have to be self enforced on the honor system because its impossible for everyone to know every tech detail of every make and model.

I don't think it's just STi's and Z06's. While there's only one STi (300hp) and Evo's make either 276 or 286 hp, the Corvettes are a mess.

Stock Corvettes over different model years make 240hp(?) (1991 and before), 300hp C4, 375hp C4 (ZR-1), 345hp C5, 385 hp C5 Z06, 405 hp Z06, 400hp C6, 505hp C6 Z06... there aren't enough classes for all of these retards.

Perhaps we should let the cars that make 300hp (or 299 hp for STi-haters :) ) and less go in SSGT and over 300 into SSU and over 400 into STGT automatically. Modified 400+ hp'ers should be punted into SP even if they only have ST trim modifications.

So, if you own a vette you're a retard?
So does that mean the club will change its name to ROMSCC?
That would be pretty cool.

Yes, because they are retardedly fast cars :) It's reverse psychology, like "Daaaaaaamn, look at that siiiiiiiiiiiiiiick Lambo! It's such a baaaaaaaaaaad car!"

The only time retard really means retard is when we talk about RyanC.

Oh, damn, I was hoping it was true, it would explain my driving at the last event. I think the rules should always open to revision, but if you get too specific you end up having to do some crazy paxing percentage like SCCA or weight/modification handicap sytem like NHRA/IHRA.

Ok, all you STi haters, this new classification proposal for SSGT has by far very competative, if not, down right faster cars than the STi. Especially if you translate this to ST performace capacities ( ST1). Then it really looks like the STi would only be mediocre at best.

SSGT:
• Audi V8 normally aspirated, S6, S4
• BMW E36 M3, E28, E34 M5; E39 540; M Coupe/Roadster S52
• Chevrolet Camaro SS Ram Air, 1LE, SLP, Corvette C4 1985-91 except ZR1
• Dodge Stealth Turbo,
• Ferrari 328
• Ford Mustang V8 NOC, 1993 Cobra R, F150 Lightning
• Lotus Esprit 4-cyl Turbo, Elise S2, Exige
• Lexus GS400
• Maserati, all models
• Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 Turbo, Lancer Evolution
• Nissan 300ZX V6 Twin Turbo, 350Z
• Mazda RX7 Twin Turbo
• Pontiac Firebird Formula, Solstice Turbo
• Porsche 911 3.2L, 944 Turbo, Turbo S, Boxster S, 928 5.0L, Cayman S
• Saturn Sky Turbo
• Subaru WRX STi

Hmmm...good point. For example, the 350Z did pretty well at Road & Track's Lightening Lap. And the Cayman S kicked serious butt!

Wow, only 1 second faster over a 3:12.5+ lap. Cayman S and Elise ran 3:09's, and the Elise was actually .1 quicker than a C6 Corvette. I think the Elise had the stickiest tires of the group.

Car & Drivel also conducted a test between the Evo MR and the 05 STi. At Gingerman, the Evo MR was .3 seconds faster over an STi with laptimes of 1:38.8 vs. 1:39.1.

These Z, STi, and Evo are very close together in terms of performance.

Don't worry George, I won't protest you for having a stock LS1 part on your LS1. :)

George points out what I said earlier in this discussion-- that many driver don't understand the rules for the class they enter and a running an illegal car for that class. Maybe the club should print up a rule book and pass it out at the events or a least a little outline of the difference between SS,ST,and SP.
