I have one slot open for the SVTOA Devens event on Saturday the 21st of this month.
Contact me directly if interested and you are an SVTOA member. You'll get 8 to 10 runs of about 2 miles each. Anyone want to come and scrap it up with a bunch of heavy and slow mustangs?

I am already signed up for the kidde karts at Sugar Hill for the 21st. Have to see how I like the autox on Sunday. I may do more of it. Should teach me to pedal a little softer!
By the way Scott, the wagon turns very nicely in the higher speed turns!!
Your tweak works well!

Well, I won't be doing any more of the autox with SCCA. I worked the corners in blazing sun for 3 hours. Got 3 runs lasting about 80 secs each. Came home, cooked.
Not to say the Miata clubs, Mustang groups and the Bimmer people are off my list. They seem to move things along, limit the group size to manageable levels and aren't over run with kids in their street cars.
I ran 200 miles at NHIS for $375.00 and 3 miles at Devens for $40.00.

SVTOA autox events, while still not as much seat time as a track DE, offer 2 mile courses, 350 cones, and more than 2 minute run times. Also, we limit the car count to 45 and push for 10 runs on the day. I have organized and have run these events for about three years now, and my focus is to get as much seat time as possible for the participants.
I've never been to an SCCA event, but I'd be pissed if I got baked by the sun all day just to get three runs. Screw that.

Thanks Troy. What you said was echoed by some of the others at the event. Some Miata guys (one sold Will the repair parts from the Mosport foray) said their events were much more track time intensive and much smoother running. They also said the same for the Bimmer sponsored events. So, maybe I'll give it another try ex-SCCA.

As a member of the Mohawk-Hudson SCCA region, I would just like to point out that each SCCA region operates their events more or less independently. So you will find that if you travel to another region, your autocross experience will likely be very different.chaos4NH wrote:So, maybe I'll give it another try ex-SCCA.
Your frustrations with the event are understandable, but I just suggest taking them out on the region, not the entire SCCA.

The BMWCCA events run by Steve Hazard and his crew are VERY well done. I think they do three run groups, and run a very tight ship. I have been to a few of those.
I much prefer to run 2 groups and limit the car count. It make for a less hectic day. Also, to limit the amount of riff raff that typically mucks up others' events, we use motorsportreg.com, and do not offer refunds of any kind. Only the regulars and folks that are commited register. The events sell out only a few days after registration opens. We do allow folks that cancel the option sell their spot to a person on the wait list. There is almost always someone waiting for a slot.
This time, it looks like a couple people have dropped out due to car trouble.

You are right Dave, my experience was with the way NER runs the Devens events.Dave_G wrote:As a member of the Mohawk-Hudson SCCA region, I would just like to point out that each SCCA region operates their events more or less independently. Of course, even at double that track time I wouldn't travel more than the 42 miles to Devens. I suppose drag racing is the same sort of thing, four or five 14 second track runs and a lot of waiting!
