My Nissan Maxima

I have a nissan maxima, and all I really want to do is drive around the track a few times at like 65 mph and not have to worry about hitting other cars like on normal streets. maybe even go a little faster towards 100mph. I am a novice driver and I just would like the ability to drive aorund the track a few times and not compete or time trial anyone.

How much would it cost to just get inspected and approved to drive alone and run around the track by yourself for an hour and then go home.

I have a nissan maxima, do I need a roll cage, I wont be flooring the car at all, just taking maybe tighter turns like instead of 25mph maybe 40mph.

Our club offers full instruction, both in a classroom and on the track. You must be approved by an instructor to solo, but not until you have spent at least one day on track with instruction. More often than not, it will take several events before you can even solo.
For what you are talking about doing, I'd suggest you look into a local autocross club. It would be perfect for satisfying your desire to really crank a few turns at 45mph without worrying about traffic.
Tell us where you are from, and maybe someone could suggest a club in your area. You could probably autocross for under $25.
Or, if you want to sign up for a track event with us, you may benefit from real track instruction. Expect to go quite a bit faster than 65 at times. Cost for one day is about $180.

Also, check our rule book that is on-line. If your car is stock or near stock it will run in Showroom Stock or Street Stock and you will not need a roll bar or any other special modifications. You WILL require a Snell rated helmet, not DOT.

I have a Maxima as well but it has alot of modifications done to it. Im wondering where the car would stand in classification and if it would need a roll bar to compete.

The questionable areas I have are the subframe connectors that are welded on to the chassis and other reinforcements bolted to those braces. I have an engine swap from a 2000 Maxima (car is a 1996) , and it's got 40mm wider tires over stock.

Im just wondering if it would have to have a roll bar because this car is still street driven.

If you read the rule book (on-line) you will see that an updated engine pushes you into SPB. Roll bar required. There are bolt-in roll bars from Autopower and others. A good idea anyway.

Well I read the rule book, it's a similar engine so that's why I was wondering.

Also is there any recomended fabricators in New England that can make up a bolt in roll bar? Autopower doesn't make an off the shelf system for a Maxima.

I personally hated a rollbar on a street car. I had it on my Miata, I felt more threatened by that thing than anything else. I would rather trust the safety features than just a couple bars

Hypothetically speaking if I was to go back to the same year engine ('95~'99) and the stock intake manifold (no top end whatsoever ) would the welded in sub frame connectors keep me in SPB?

From what I gather my car aside from the engine swap and SFCs is classified in ST3. Im all for safety of a roll bar, but id rather un-mod my car to be ST3 friendly and not get my ass handed to me in SPB.

Also is there someone I can PM and give them a list of stuff and see if they are legal in ST3?
