2007 Schedule?

When should we expect an 07 schedule? I'd like to start making plans..

Hopefully there are a couple of dates @ Calabogie instead of Mosport

OK, I guess you all can have a teaser. :D

Here's what looks like it's in the bag:
4 NHIS dates, 2 weekends
Watkins Glen
Mosport
Mont Tremblant

Still waiting to hear back from Lime Rock and Calabogie.
We're probably only picking one of the two.
Whoever comes through with the better date, we'll take.

Thanks for the sneak-peak Herb! Just curious... Given the last sentence I assume the club has a defacto limit on the number of events per year set at 8, why is this?

Mostly it's a matter of financial balance. We used to have 4 NHIS
events and 4 away events, and losses we took at the away events
were offset by the NHIS events. Over the past 3 years, we have
had more away events than NHIS events, and that (and the free
banquets :wink:) has eroded our considerable cash reserves to
the point where we can't continue with that program.

So, it's back to 4 NHIS and 4 away, and hopefully we'll be back
in the black for 2007.

Herb, I understand you/we are in a holding pattern till the tracks get back to you, however, what's your best guess as to when the club will be at the point to make the decision btw the 2?

Also, on a related note, when will decisions be made regarding fees for next year, e.g., membership dues & event fees? Seems there may be options folks may want to mull regarding balancing track schedules & financial books for '07.

Having been to Calabogie and LRP, I would much rather do Calabogie than LRP. On a scale of 1 to 10, with NHIS being a 2, I give LRP a 6 and Calabogie an 8 or 9, with Mosport and Tremblant 9 and 10. Calabogie earlier in the year is way better than LRP in November, and does not even merit a comparison.

I'm not sure what Calabogie's track fees are like - whether they'd be low enough to offset any extra losses over LRP that the club might incur.

Raj, tough to argue against your point...in this case, a picture seems to be worth a thousand miles :-) ... What I'd like to do is try to find a way to do both!

I literally have no idea. I'll be checking with the tracks again at
the end of this month. There's a fine line between being a squeaky
wheel and being a pest. 8)

Well, this month (November) is the rules meeting, so I would guess
that discussions about fees will wait until the December or later
board meetings.

Why would you rank NHIS a 2 grade? It's one of the most technically challenged tracks around. If you can master NHIS you'd be in good shape for several other tracks.
Surely you are a pro there so why the low grade?

Calabogie sounds good if the date is NOT substituting LRP in November or you'll bring more than just snowtires...

We could use a Canadian series: Mosport, Calabogie and Mont Tremblant ... fantastique!

No, I'm looking for a Calabogie date in the middle of the season,
or an October LRP. I think any Calabogie date in the middle of
summer would trump a November LRP date.

Not to speak for Raj, but... I've heard the same about skiing in the Northeast... "if you can ski there you can ski anywhere!" Invariably this is spoken by those who live in the area and only have these mountains to ski on. NHIS is the least well planned track I have personally driven on.

The facilities can't be beat but the track layout is poor. FWIW, it seems there is an inverse correlation btw horsepower and love for NHIS.
