Bruce Allen, Greased Shadow retires
Recent open heart surgery with its expected recovery time and my age (78) has made me decide to hang up my racing boots. This heart operation must be the reason why I did not beat everyone in SC at Palmer. I joined COM with my new RX7 Turbo II upon the recommendation of Grove Marcy to start my track experiences in 1987. In the interim I have filled many roles in COM and have filled my basement with trophies.
This means I will be selling my Lotus Exige Cup 240 and my RV/car trailer when I can get around to it.
Com has been a big part of my life for 34 years and I have many fond memories. I will write something up.

Bruce,
I’m glad to hear you are on the road to post-op recovery! Thank you for all you have done for our club and your many years of loyal stewardship in the many roles (by my count!) that you’ve shouldered. I know you have been a board member, instructor, and lead our mentor program.
Thanks again for your many contributions and for being a a reliable staple in our paddock!
Please be well, and come visit when you are up for it!
Best,
Will

I second Will's sentiments. Bruce was a driving force behind Palmer, his positions on the SCCA "New Track Committee" and the COM board got me sucked into it. His "PMP Business plan" is an Excel tour de force, the bank and SBA had never seen anything like it, turns out we were all duped! His heart has always been in grassroots motorsports, a "hobby" that is now my life, 24/7. Thanks Bruce! There is a flag with your name on at the Turn 1 station!

We'll miss you Bruce. Thanks for all you've done for the club over the years.
There are key corners where I think of your coaching each time I go through them, especially at Mosport.

Bruce,
What an impressive run. While I certainly mirror the comments here, the thing that carries even more meaning, at least for me, is the role you played in guiding our culture, and helping to keep us grounded in our core values as an organization.
It is, indeed, all about the fast lap. We will not forget it.
Our BoD has cooked up a surprise for you. Stay tuned for that.

A great run with the club Bruce, and of course we expect you to stop by anytime you can.
Thanks for being one of the first instructors willing to hop in the old mustang back when I started 16-17 years ago. Your instruction then and wisdom since on specific tracks, corners and club issues sticks with me still.
Bruce was also very active in the publication of the Four Wheel Drift, back when information flowed slowly and with great effort to get it done thru the season.

Bruce:
You've certainly been a fixture within COM and have done so much to help the club! Thank you for all that you've done.
I'm glad you're on the mend and hope we can catch up at the track or banquet!
